The Discuss part of Atrium is nearly completed. I am thinking of deploying it to the main site very soon.

Basically it will function in a way that is very similar to Reddit.

You will be able to create your own forums - similar to the way Subreddits works, or Facebook groups. If you create your own Agora, you will be the moderator so you can remove spammers easily.

There will be a new posts feed, unread posts feed and a way to search the Agoras.

The Agoras are the forums you see here that contain all of the topics.

You will be able to upload all kinds of files, videos, documents and images. Links will show in a pill in the post.

I'm just ironing out a few bugs and hopefully I can deploy Atrium this week.

Ok! Sounds like a very modern and up to date overhaul of everything, which will be good for the site no doubt, but may require some training for me since I don't know how Reddit or Facebook Groups works and I've barely understood those things, but learning this may help with those too.

We'll try it out and see how it does with me, as I probably represent a user type that is very backwards and not in the loop, which I think maybe a chunk of the population may be quite similar to in that regard. I've had a lot of trouble convincing any of the people who were used to forums to even look at either the main site or this one or to navigate it, so it is amazing that I've been able to use it as much, but the main site or interface that really allowed me to type and post much more and much more comfortably was this one.

It may not be possible, but I was hoping that in case I'm not able to adapt well enough to the changes and new style, that somehow there would be an option to view the content on pages like this, so that I can't tell the difference, can keep posting as usual and navigating everything, but it just looks like a normal old style forum for people in that viewing mode that retains this style. Whatever the case though, I'll give it a thorough try and will let you know what my experience is through the process of trying to learn.

I wonder if the Reddit style produces Reddit types of interactions or if those annoying people are that way regardless of the interface. Sometimes I've felt like the color palette can attract certain types of people and change their moods, similar to studies that suggested things as simple as wearing black can make people act differently when they are forced to wear it and interact.

Will all these threads I'm currently using on the two sub-forums here, the ones that I've changed the names of, be usable still? Will they have all the stuff that I've posted listed chronologically and visibly so that I don't have to click lots or go to other pages? Will the writing be easy to save?

So what I've been doing, until you didn't want me to change the names anymore, but what I'm still doing besides that, is using these threads as bags where I collect lots of information, references, illustrative videos and art and music related to subtle, strange, and interwoven themes and ideas, also to see what might repeat or emerge or come up repeatedly and get placed there. I frequently return and review them to see the course of things and think about what they ended up collecting and pointing to. Having the posts and writing all visible and chronological has helped with that.

I wonder what the new layout and style will work like for these sorts of things or if my time of doing that is over mainly, since now the only old forum style place might be the derelict private forum I was typing on before the owner of that site became busy and I started on here.

For 2026, besides the big site update, I also hope that I'll be able to get into a new routine of producing things that reach the public and in turn profits from the exposure and support of people, namely YouTube type stuff that gets people to pay on Patreon somehow, eventually, and in a lucrative enough fashion to become a secure and central spurce of income.

I'm starting at below 0 even, as I don't even have a chair or table to use or any equipment or anything, just my phone which has been having problems, and not feeling all that great myself. A mist descended on New Year's Eve and about half an hour before the New Year here I started to feel pretty bad and unwell, woth a wave of heat and sweat and nausea and agitation, and then later cold waves, and I couldn't tell if it was some kidney thing again or what was going on, and I've been feeling weird and bad since, but not the exceuciating pain of the kidney thing from a few months ago, which is why I have no idea what exactly is going on now and all of a sudden afterbeing mainly alright just before. When there is dome mysterious pain or problem going on inside, it also makes the mind, trying to communicate that there is an issue, and the nervous system, seem to be firing off all kinds of warnings and alerts but not able to clarify or even identify or point to what the problem might be or where it may be exactly, its just a fight or flight type freak out inside and in the mind but I have no idea whatthe problem is exactly or what to do, so I've just been externslly still and calm and drinking water and water with the citric acid stuff that can help, even had some apple cider vinegar pills to see if there is something else having trouble breaking down. A pretty disturbing opening to the new year but one that also forces me to not do much, but not being able yo do much also stresses me out as troubles and things to do becoming increasingly urgent feeling just build up.

<r><QUOTE><s>[quote]</s>Ok! Ok so I am going to give you a basic tutorial here.<br/>
<br/>
Don't worry this site will be live for a bit longer, but I encourage you to use the main site once I have installed it. I am just finishing off some snags today and hopefully I can get it live by Sunday.<br/>
<br/>
Basically when you get to the site you will be prompted by a login/register module. Use your credentials that you use here or on Stream - both will work.<br/>
<br/>
Then, you will see three tabs. Connect, Discuss, Stream.<br/>
<br/>
You want to click on Discuss. (I'll keep it simple for you specificially as that is where you are going to be most active.<br/>
<br/>
In that tab there are three more tabs. <br/>
<br/>
New = New posts.<br/>
Unread = Unread Posts<br/>
Agoras = The Agora list. This is exactly the same as visiting the homepage for this section of the site. <URL url="https://forum.indieagora.com/index.php"><LINK_TEXT text="index.php">https://forum.indieagora.com/index.php</LINK_TEXT></URL> It allows you to choose which forum section you want to visit. When you click on the Agora (what is called a forum here) you will see a list of all the topics in that Agora/forum. Click on it and you will open the topic as it does here.<br/>
Create Agora = This allows you to create your own forum! That's something that isn't available here. Basically you create the Agora and then it will show up on the Agora list where you can post your own topics and posts. You will also have moderator privileges so you can control spam/inappropriate content, nuisance users etc.<br/>
<br/>
In the New post feed, or the unread post feed you have the option to share the post to Connect, copy the post link to clipboard or reply.<br/>
<br/>
Clicking on the post in the feed opens the topic as it would here.<br/>
<br/>
You can search for users, topics and replies in the search bar.<br/>
<br/>
To start a new topic go to Agoras > Open the Agora you want > Click where it says 'Create a post' (near the top of the Agora page) > This expands a composer module (looks like the quick reply tools at the bottom of a phpbb thread.) > Then type in the composer at the top of the page which will allow you to give your topic a title, add the text content, add attachments and then post it.<br/>
<br/>
To reply to a topic, you visit the topic and either click post reply at the top, click the quote or reply buttons on each post, or scroll to the bottom of the page to open the composer yourself. Once you submit your reply it will show your reply in the topic thread.<br/>
<br/>
You will easily be able to navigate and use this in no time. It's very mobile friendly.<br/>
<br/>
To ban users from your Agora, you click the icon next to their username to boot them and if you wnat to reinstate them, you just click the same icon and it adds them back in the Agora so that they can post again.<br/>
<br/>
More features will be added later which allow users to joi your Agora, where you can set rules for your Agora and more, cover photos for the Agora....<br/>
<br/>
I will impliment more moderation features later too. <br/>
<br/>
For now though, the new Atrium system allows you to :<br/>
<br/>
Create forums.<br/>
Create topics.<br/>
Create replies to topics.<br/>
Upload attachments.<br/>
Share links easier.<br/>
<br/>
Everything you need to continue your experience here.<br/>
<br/>
<br/>
There are some features which will not work yet -<br/>
<br/>
Notifications.<br/>
Connect profile functions.<br/>
Stream will just be a feed of videos and channels for now.<br/>
Messages work but users are not notified.<br/>
The post icon in the bottom navigation bar will not do anything yet.<br/>
The notifications bell in the bottom navigation bar will not do anything yet.<br/>
Some dropdown menu features in the profile icon in the bottom nav bar will not work yet.<br/>
<br/>
You can login and logout/ register.<br/>
<br/>
For now though, Discuss is the busiest part of the site. It will be more enjoyable to use than phpbb or the wordpress site we have been using.<br/>
<br/>
Hope this helps.<br/>
<br/>
This post will still be available when Discuss goes live so you will be able to see this post while using it.<br/>
<br/>
If you want to have a play around with it now, you can.<br/>
<br/>
Go to <URL url="https://dev.indieagora.com">https://dev.indieagora.com</URL> and try it out!<br/>
<br/>
That is a development site - beware that anything you share there will not be saved on to the production site when it goes live. Also there may be severe disruptions on it as I make modifications to it.</r>

I just made it go live.
