There are various strategies to eliminate homosexuality or perceived abberations in human behavior which curiously exist even within the efforts of self-proclaimed homosexuals even as a majority with efforts such as "acceptance" being a similar elimination strategy to "changing".

​I made this thread to discuss natural homophobic tendencies within all or most people including those who self-identify as queer in some way.

Also to request or suggest a Psychology section may be added to the forum if it doesn't already exist if this topic would be more appropriate there.

The focus of this thread is on the Death Drive or desire to equalize and neutralize and level peaks and mountains and abberations which seems to be an in-built tendency in humans and animals in dealing with a variety of things including themselves and others.

Furthermore, an examination of personal strategies we may use basedon this tendency towards leveling or destroying or reversing emerging structural changes.

Many would quickly deny any such tendencies in themselves and even offer various proofs against it, which could ironically be said to be the same drive at work, which may itself be a mechanism for threat reduction and survival which can sometimes also be detrimental or counter productively inefficient depending on the proclaimed objectives or ideals.

I'm not sure it is natural, as it's a tendency/preference I see it as something that evolved in culture. To be clear, I am not saying 'not natural therefore bad', just that queer sexuality for one thing, is a state that does not fall into the binary roles culture has formed.

What I was referring to as natural was the death drive in people, a tendency to want to normalize or level peaks or abberations, which then finds one extra form in a homophobic version which is shared by both homosexuals and non-homosexuals alike, whether they want to eliminate homosexuals or neutralize the issue through acceptance or tolerance or normalization, both efforts reflecting this same leveling tendency which seems innate in humans and animals to detect anomalies and resolve them somehow.

All I know up to this point is that the death drive is the only drive for Lacan and is associated with the Real and Jouissance, but it also governs the Symbolic.

Also, in Man and Superman or whatever the name of that play, they use the term Death Drive as well in the dialogue by the Devil. In the sense that I am using it, it means a drive to level or create equilibrium and eliminate all existence ultimately even though it starts out as a call for peace against anything causing distress. Wanting to be unnoticed or "accepted" is also a form of the Death Drive in this sense.

Are you saying society only accepts in order to change homosexuality? I don't think acceptance is the first strategy, toleration comes first which then leads to apathy, a disinterest.

Oh no, I am only talking about a desire to be eliminated as a category existing for both the anti-homosexual and the homosexual in many cases even if not overtly acknowledged.

With the growth of the human population, a malignant strain of human beings has been able to develop and form structures to support themselves and their kind, an apparatus made to support a psycho-cracy, lunatics running the lives of the docile majority.

Eugenics, as disturbing and misused as it has been, still has scientifically likely truths hidden in it, like how genes of certain types can become dominant and with the use of other structures and technologies end up unfairly imbalancing things, basically like diseases do also, evrn at the expense of the systems or body they rely on, because they are still not sustainable entities or structures, they promote unsustainable systems, and they are crazed or have gone rogue like metastatizing cancerous cells which have mutated and have stopped functioning harmoniously with the body and instead promote their own replication, leading to collapse.

We're dealing with that in the political system and the techno military industrial complex and the mutants and deviants who have gravitated to those positions and hijacked everything towards a Death Drive which completely has a hold over their decisions, whether they are consciously aware or not, and the only way to deal with such a threat that is daily expanding damage is the same way one must deal with quickly growing and spreading and damaging cancerous cells. Of course there is no easy way to do that and these diseases individuals eill hold hostage everything, including the whole body or system, in order to continue to survive and perform their destructive function, but they can not be reasoned with as they are wholly overtaken and being run by their contorted neurology. If, even with numerous accidents, a good deal of these cells are made unable to function in such a manner, the inevitable complete system failure they will cause can be delayed and if even more are dealt with and neutralized, a body can get a fresh bill of health and a new lease on life, because the dangerous disease has been stopped and the bad cells are no longer reproducing and choking out the functionality of everything which relies on different kinds of cells working properly.

One of the ways that this complex mutation has attempted to bypass this vulnerability to immune responses, which never seem to occur now that immune compromising efforts have been out in place to make natural responses dangerous or lethal for the immune cells themselves, is to immortalize itself by changing form or having a backup, replacing their biological dependency on technological dependency and more hardy systems that can't be hurt as easily and can also hide better by being able to travel through different kinds of shapes, like circuitry instead of blood and veins in bodies. Creating replicas of themselves in digital and much more immune forms, as philosophically silly as it could seem to many normal people, is a perfectly reasonable solution to insane people who are detached from reality and viscera in the first place, so long as their paychopathic essence stemming initially from mutated genes can continue to flourish, in any form.

However, CEOs have one of the highest concentrations of psychopaths with about 20% of CEOs displaying psychopathic traits. This is close to what you might find in a prison population where about 25% of male prisoners have psychopathic characteristics.

Another interesting fact is that Washington D.C. has the most psychopaths per capita of any place in the United States.

What is a Psychopath?

Because they possess a specific set of personality characteristics, psychopaths can be extremely damaging to society. The three personality traits that they demonstrate are called the “Dark Triad” by psychologists. Individuals who possess these traits often exhibit malevolent behaviors and are more prone to commit crimes and commit ethical violations. The Dark Triad includes:

1. Machiavellianism -This is behavior which is duplicitous and manipulative. If you are Machiavellian, you have a disregard for moral and social rules, lie easily and can do it without guilt. Rather, you enjoy the sense of power that comes from getting other people to do what you want.

2. Lack of Conscience- You know that inner voice in your head that tells you to return a found wallet or treat others as you want to be treated? People high in psychopathy don’t have that voice. As a result, they lack many of the social emotions that other people take for granted, including guilt, remorse, sympathy, and pity.

3. Narcissism- People high in narcissism are self-centered and have an inflated sense of their qualities and achievements. They lust for power and revel in the sense that they are better and smarter than everyone around them, even if it isn’t true.

Hitler ordered the death of six million and between 70–85 million died because of the war, famine and disease. Psychopathy was just one of several mental disorders that Hitler was thought to suffer from.

The willful deception and manipulation of the truth coupled with the complete disregard for the consequences can be described as nothing other than psychopathic behavior.

The global financial crisis cost an estimated $19.2 trillion in household wealth and at least one paper presents a theory that argues that psychopaths working in financial corporations had a major part in causing the crisis.

The 2019 movie Dark Waters details how executives at Du Pont Chemicals poisoned lakes and rivers in a small town in West Virginia with their PFAS chemicals that were used to create their billion dollar a year product, TEFLON coating for non-stick pans, despite that they knew it was killing animals and creating birth defects in children. Today, we find these toxic chemicals in our bloodstream, food, soil, air, drinking water, and in wildlife.

The Benefits of Psychopaths

However, not all psychopaths are bad. If we can channel their energy correctly, they can make skilled surgeons, brave firefighters, soldiers, and even skilled chefs. Because people with psychopathic characteristics can remain calm under pressure, they can think quickly and decisively in chaotic and stressful situations. So, if properly guided, they can actually be beneficial to society.

Ways to Deal with Psychopaths

One solution to preventing psychopaths from abusing power is by identifying them from an early age. There are psychometric evaluations to identify psychopaths early on, like the Callous-Unemotional (CU) pre-psychopathic test, which looks for low levels of empathy and guilt, and a general lack of feeling for others. There is also the Deceitful-Callous (DC) behavior test, which assesses both the tendency to lack feelings for others and the tendency to lie.

Evidence of psychopathy can begin as early as 2 years old and children that scored low on these tests predicted behavioral problems as early as 3 years old.
We can give psychometric testing in schools and in juvenile detention. Once identified, an individual with psychopathic tendencies can be guided into specially designed programs that will cultivate their characteristics into professions and behaviors that are beneficial to society.

Conscious Capitalism

Another way to prevent psychopaths from abusing their power is by changing the system that enables them to abuse their power. For example, B-Corporations are businesses that have undergone a certification process and changed their business charters to consider more than just profits. Instead, the business is judged holistically and considers their treatment of the community, the environment, their employees, their supply chain, and their customers. The board holds the leaders of the B-Corporation accountable, and this acts a system of checks and balances.

Put More Women in Positions of Power

Electing more woman to positions of leadership is another way to prevent psychopaths from abusing their power, because fewer women show these characteristics. Studies also show that women often make better business leaders and help increase productivity, enhance collaboration, inspire dedication, and improve fairness within an organization. Despite this, females run only 10% of Fortune 500. In other words, there are more psychopaths than there are women leading large companies.

Change the System

Finally, changing the financial system so that the interests of business leaders are aligned with the long-term health and sustainability of a company rather than short-term gains is necessary to prevent the abuse of power. One way to do this would be to change the vesting schedule on stock options. Many companies have short-term schedules with options that vest over a 1 to 4 year period. Making options vest over a 10 year time frame would ensure that business leaders create long terms strategies rather than cashing out quickly.

Although psychopaths make up a small portion of the population, they create a disproportionate amount of damage to society. I have evidence that I was targeted for harassment, financial abuse, workplace harassment by my coworker stalker ex that I dated. He moved me to another state to a rural area and never paid me back an $80,000 loan.

I was terminated from my job. My family played stupid and used the police to perform 13 wellness checks on me and got me locked up in a psych ward 3 times. My parents lied and said they “didn’t know what was wrong with me”. I was begging for help. I needed a lawyer but was intentionally broke. I was given fake diagnosis and put on the wrong meds. My mom hit me and illegally called 911 to have me arrested. I went to jail and was dragged through court for 4 months.

It became so bad that I became legally disabled with PTSD and was forced to pay for my “ex” while he lived in the house that was meant for us. Everyone told me I was paranoid and crazy.

I tried to sell the house that was a trap using 11 realtors, tried to force 3 cash sales and hired 1 mediator. At this point I was living on benefits and the house was about to be foreclosed. I didn’t even get to live in it because the harassment, torture and intimidation by my “ex” was so bad.

A realtor 1.5 years later who is a former cop saw what was happening and was on my side. He convinced my coworker “ex” to sign the paperwork. My reputation was now destroyed and I had lost everything. The lies kept going.

Hindsight is 20/20 and I can now see that I was targeted by the people closest to me who gaslighted me the entire time even though I had evidence my ex was sabotaging each sale.

My family wants to bury the story but I’m older and wiser now and want the truth exposed. They sabotaged my career and I was a normal person before this coworker approached me at work.

The police refuse to do anything even though I have text message evidence and can get witness testimony. I was driven to insanity on purpose but I was never paranoid. I saw my life being destroyed in front of my eyes.

My ex-coworker “ex boyfriend” thinks it’s funny and calls himself a ninja. A ninja infiltrates, sabotages, and assassinates their enemies and takes them out by surprise. They are sneaky and covert. The truth is obvious now. I am normal and he needs to be in jail or locked in a psych ward.

He still taunts me and says he will destroy me, take me down and there’s a permanent padded room for me at the psych ward. My family treated him well during this whole time and is now silent and saying I am ruining things by breaking my silence.

How do I expose the truth? I have evidence that this was a plotted and planned attack on my life. How do I get police to arrest him or 5150 him? He is a psychopath and my workplace stalker. He had no friends or hobbies and dedicated 7 years to this attack while my family aided and abetted him. Can I take legal action? These people should not be walking around in civilized society.

My mom is still calling the police to call in fake wellness checks to harass me and lock me up and is trying to get in touch with my personal psychiatrist and therapist who are on my side. My therapist said he is a malignant narcissist, psychopath, and shows Machiavellianism traits. An intimacy seeking stalker who turned into a resentful stalker.

He told me today he would put me in a mental hospital permanently. I see that as a threat. I’m trying to protect my sanity but he’s a tyrant who psychologically tortured me and abused me. No one listened to me.

Psychopathic individuals are notorious for their controlled goal-directed aggressive behavior. Yet, during social challenges, they often show uncontrolled emotional behavior. Healthy individuals can control their social emotional behavior through anterior prefrontal cortex (aPFC) downregulation of neural activity in the amygdala, with testosterone modulating aPFC–amygdala coupling. This study tests whether individual differences in this neuroendocrine system relate to the paradoxical lack of emotional control observed in human psychopathic offenders. Emotional control was operationalized with an fMRI-adapted approach–avoidance task requiring rule-driven control over rapid emotional responses. Fifteen psychopathic offenders and 19 matched healthy control subjects made approaching and avoiding movements in response to emotional faces. Control of social emotional behavior was required during affect-incongruent trials, when participants had to override affect-congruent, automatic action tendencies and select the opposite response. Psychopathic offenders showed less control-related aPFC activity and aPFC–amygdala coupling during trials requiring control of emotional actions, when compared with healthy control subjects. This pattern was particularly pronounced in psychopathic individuals with high endogenous testosterone levels. These findings suggest that reduced prefrontal coordination underlies reduced behavioral control in psychopathic offenders during emotionally provoking situations. Even though the modest sample size warrants replication, the modulatory role of endogenous testosterone on the aPFC–amygdala circuit suggests a neurobiological substrate of individual differences that is relevant for the advancement of treatment and the reduction of recidivism.

Testosterone (T) has received increasing interest in the recent years as a probable biological determinant in the etiology of male-biased clinical conditions such as psychopathy (i.e. psychopathy is more prevalent in men and leads to an earlier onset and more severe expression of antisocial and aggressive behavior in men compared to women). In this review, the authors evaluated the potential relationship between T and different constructs closely related to the core characteristics of psychopathy (affective empathy, fear-reactivity, and instrumental aggression). Psychopathy is a cluster of personality traits associated with antisocial and violent behavior. Research suggests that both environmental and biological factors, such as hormones, can contribute to the development of psychopathic traits.

Previous research had suggested that hormonal influences, including testosterone, could contribute to the development of psychopathic traits. In their new study, Katherine Perez and colleagues sought to expand upon existing knowledge by examining the relationship between prenatal testosterone exposure, measured indirectly through the 2D:4D ratio, and three facets of psychopathy: egocentricity, callousness, and antisocial behavior.

The 2D:4D finger ratio can be found by dividing the length of the index finger (2D) by the length of the ring finger (4D) on the same hand.

To conduct the study, the researchers recruited participants from introductory criminal justice courses at a large southwestern university. The data collection process involved two steps: an in-class paper and pencil survey and a separate laboratory portion. In the laboratory, participants underwent various measurements, including heart rate, skin conductance, saliva samples, facial symmetry, and hand scans to measure digit length.

A total of 862 participants completed the in-class survey, and approximately 66% of them (N = 567) scheduled a time to participate in the laboratory portion. Ultimately, 491 participants provided reliable hand scans and relevant demographic variables for analysis.

The results revealed the males had lower 2D:4D ratios than females, which indicates greater prenatal testosterone exposure. The males in the group also had higher rates of psychopathic personality traits. For males, there was a positive correlation between lower 2D:4D ratios and psychopathic traits. But this relationship was not found among females.

This study provides evidence for the link between prenatal testosterone exposure and psychopathic traits in males. The findings indicate that greater exposure to testosterone during prenatal development may account for the differing personality traits between males that are associated with psychopathy.

Perez and colleagues controlled for potential confounding factors such as age, race/ethnicity, parental arrest, and child physical and sexual abuse. The findings are also in line with a similar study, which found that higher prenatal testosterone exposure was linked to both Machiavellianism and psychopathy.

But the research team acknowledged some limitations to their study. For example, the study utilized self-report method to collect information on psychopathic traits. Self-report methods may be subject to social desirability bias.

Furthermore, the study did not investigate the specific mechanisms that contribute to the connection between prenatal testosterone exposure and psychopathy.

The Dark Triad refers to a set of three personality traits: Machiavellianism, narcissism, and psychopathy. It has been consistently observed that men tend to score higher than women on Dark Triad characteristics. However, the extent to which these sex differences are due to biological factors, such as sex hormones, is still unclear. Testosterone, the primary male sex hormone, plays a crucial role in regulating sex differentiation, reproductive tissues, and secondary sex characteristics. It is produced in the testes in males and to a lesser extent in the ovaries in females, as well as in the adrenal glands and hypothalamus in both sexes. The hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis controls the release of testosterone and other gonadal steroids.

Research has shown that testosterone is linked to social status-seeking, dominance, and aggression. However, there are limited studies on the relationship between testosterone and the Dark Triad, with only a few studies suggesting a potential relationship between testosterone and narcissism in males.

To conduct their study, the researchers recruited 268 participants (132 females and 136 males) aged between 18 and 65 years. The sample consisted of both students and individuals from the general population.

The Dark Triad personality traits were measured using The Short Dark Triad, a 27-item scale that assesses Machiavellianism, narcissism, and psychopathy. The Big Five personality traits were assessed using the International Personality Inventory Pool – Mini, a short-form version of a measure based on the Five-Factor Model. Salivary samples were collected to measure testosterone and cortisol levels.

The participants also provided handprints for calculating 2D:4D digit ratios. The 2D:4D digit ratio is a measure that compares the lengths of the index finger (2D) and the ring finger (4D) on the hand. It is calculated by dividing the length of the index finger by the length of the ring finger. This ratio is believed to be influenced by prenatal hormone exposure, particularly testosterone.

“Your finger length might give you an idea of how much testosterone you got in the womb,” South explained. “On average, males have a lower 2D:4D ratio than females, which means, their index fingers tend to be shorter compared to their ring fingers (compared to those of females), which may indicate higher testosterone before you were born.”

The results of the study showed several differences between male and female participants in terms of hormone levels and personality traits. Men had higher levels of testosterone and cortisol compared to women, and they also scored higher on all Dark Triad traits. On the other hand, women had higher levels of agreeableness and neuroticism than men.

The study also found correlations between hormone levels and personality traits. Testosterone levels were higher in people who displayed heightened psychopathy, Machiavellianism, and imagination. In both men and women, higher testosterone levels were associated with being less agreeable and more emotionally unstable.

The findings suggest “that even before we’re born, our personalities are already taking shape,” South told PsyPost. “Specifically, traits linked to psychopathy and Machiavellianism might start forming in the womb, shaped by factors like testosterone levels. This doesn’t just help us understand ourselves better, but also gives us new ways to manage these traits if they become a problem.”

The findings also have implications for understanding personality and its relationship to sex and hormones.

“The huge importance of sex differences in these relationships was particularly interesting to me,” South said. “We really don’t know everything about the Dark Triad yet – sure, males score higher, but why is this? Hormones, while a factor, don’t seem to tell the whole story, so what else is going on here? I hope to look into this with future research.”

This study has a few limitations that need to be considered. Firstly, it is a cross-sectional study, meaning it was conducted at a specific point in time and cannot show causality. The study was also done with a non-clinical group of participants under normal conditions, so it may not capture hormonal variations that can occur throughout the day or due to stress.

The dark triad is a combination of three negative personality traits: narcissism, psychopathy, and Machiavellianism. It is more common for this set of traits to be found among men, and it can be spotted through characteristics like selfishness, impulsivity, and opportunism. Those who gain success at the workplace without regard to getting along with others are likely to score high on measures of the dark triad.

How does one develop these traits? Is it due to genetics or does society play a role in forming individuals with these undesirable personality characteristics? A study published in Personality and Individual Differences attributes it to sexism.

Researchers from the University of Florida suggest that the dark triad might be misproduced by society’s promotion and maintenance of men’s dominant social position over women. To test this, Melissa Gluck and her colleagues set out to investigate whether any form of sexism is associated with the development of this particular set of negative traits.

For this online study a total of 295 US adults completed measures of dark triad traits and sexism. The measure for sexism consisted of statements that tested for different forms in which sexism can manifest; the ill-intended, hostile sexism and well-intended, benevolent sexism. Participants were required to specify to what extent they agree with statements like ‘’Women seek to gain power by getting control over men’’ (for hostile sexism) or ‘’ A good woman should be set on a pedestal by her man’’ (for benevolent sexism).

Replicating previous findings, the results showed men scoring higher on both sexism and the dark triad measure, compared to female participants. There was a positive relationship for both genders between overall sexism and participants’ dark triad ratings; the more they scored for sexism, the greater their dark triad results were. Most of this relationship was due to hostile sexism levels, which might explain the gender difference in the dark triad scores as men are more likely to show hostile sexism than women.

The authors point out the link between hostile sexism and the dark triad as a key finding, urging those thinking about the dark triad to simultaneously think about hostile sexism. Results also suggest that by fighting sexism, negative personality traits in the society like those encompassed in the dark triad might be reduced.

The purpose of this investigation was to examine the effect of psychopathy on antigay aggression. Participants were 84 heterosexual men who competed in an aggression paradigm in which electric shocks were received from and administered to a randomly determined fictitious opponent (heterosexual male, gay male) during a competitive reaction time task. Aggression was operationalized as shock intensities administered to the opponent. Prior to the task, all participants completed measures of psychopathy, sexual prejudice, and state anger; viewed a male-male erotic video; and reported state anger a second time. After controlling for sexual prejudice, analyses revealed that psychopathy significantly predicted aggression toward the gay, but not the heterosexual, male confederate. Psychopathy was not associated with increases in anger in response to the erotic video. These findings indicate that psychopathy is a significant marker for antigay violence, though anger experienced in response to homosexuality does not seem to underlie this association.
