Here is great lecture about Platform Capitalism, the new cut throat and highly precarious world we live in has lots of 'gigs', 'sharing' micro-jobs that amount to very little wages and high maintenance costs with no employment rights whatsoever.

Re: Platform Capitalism
Highly exploitative capitalism indeed, platforms can run without assets and are not profitable and survive through venture capital welfare, in particular Uber. All the costs are incurred by the workers.
Funding dries up and it soon becomes a luxury product and will die off most likely.
Uber want to move to self driving cars lol.

Re: Platform Capitalism
What it is, is another movement within Capitalism that gets rid of jobs. The future economy looks very low on work and we will have to adapt to a low labour force with piece meal tasks. The problem will be how if people have no money through work, how will they consume ? Will the system of Capitalism fold in on itself ?

Re: Platform Capitalism
It seems to have done a lot of damage to YouTube where drama is the commodity and feature.
Re: Platform Capitalism
It's upsetting because individuals are the product, that we are being sold back to ourselves and treated like comodities. This is a kind of 'objectification' of all people, not just women, as in feminist theory. Also capitalism has come inbetween communications of people, where it is hard to know if people are being genuine, or just uppping the anti, to get more views and credits for themselves thus increasing through controversy their own worth as a product of interest on the net.
