Sex Trafficking versus Sex Workers

Post by Whisper »

Young progressives tend to support sex work and they use the term "SWERF"- Sex work exclusionary radical feminist to those who oppose it.
I also want to support sex workers, but here are some other considerations

Breaking free is an anti sex trafficking organization centered in the twin cities, minnesota
instead of "prostitution is the oldest career", they claim "Sex trafficking is the oldest OPPRESSION"
If you have sex for new shoes- that is still being sex trafficked and a path you don't want to go down..
"If you can choose who you fuck, your are probably a rich feminist from the suburbs".
It is oppression because people are selling their bodies just to make ends meet.
It is so gross and many people resort to drugs.
The inner city is merciless, rich men drive to the the poor neighborhoods to buy women.
Prostituted women are advertised on porn sites.
The average age of entry into prostitution is 13 years old. Women tend to be either sexually abused as children, or run-aways
Sex workers are actually prostituted women, not prostitutes. They are human beings and dehumanized by society
Prostituted women suffer under capitalist systems. The blame falls not on trafficked women but the people who buy them
Johns need to be educated

I only bring this up not to reject "sex work" but discuss the other views on it. Suburban feminists can be so one sided.

Ho. Oh, an appropriate typo. I meant to say Hi! I'm against selling things in general, but especially selling one's body to pleasure another's body. I think that marriage is the only appropriate form of prostitution, where the transaction is supposed to be a lifetime of devotion and obligation and care, mutually, but with the one sided-ness potentially being that whoever has more of the resources is sharing them with their spouse and the family they may produce, and may be deriving more out of the sex and other things that may be provided, but it should ne roughly fair and both should be getting and not losing. It is almost like prostitution, except that prostitution is brief and seemingly does a lot of disruptive things to society and societal order in my opinion, and promotes a bad way of dealing with people and a bad way of thinking about sex acts and human beings and human bodies, no matter how exploiters and those seemingly pleased to be exploited may like to frame it. People should not be treated as sex objects for pleasuring oneself with, without any care or obligation, for a price, this seems far more chemically involved and intimate than a massage or chiropracty session, especially with the release of bonding chemicals like oxytocin.

So I believe in romance and duty and ideals that may be more traditional and typically viewed as noble, probably still today as well.

I'm against situations where there might by even subtle jealousy and competition or disruptions, so any sort of polyamory even if people have agreed to it, it doesn't mean that they are not being foolish amd potentially hurting people or making it so the care is lessened and spread across more people, and there is always going to be favoritism too, and someone who wants and prefers this more.

So just a pair that is devoted to each other as a unit that really cares and benefits mutually, who may then also raise a child who they also care for and guide but are not sexually involved with, and just the normal things, the way the vast majority of the world has run for most people, that they mature, find a mate, raise children together oftentimes, and it then repeats with those children.

Life can be good and straightforward without prostitutes and pimps and the body being pushed towards being turned into another form for the machine to chew up. Humanity should be working in every way to turn everything away from being consumed and turned into capital and this whole system of using and being used and money stuff that has ruined life for so many should be dismantled and destroyed and put in the same category as things that are supposed to be wrong forever, like fascism and p*dophilia and whatever else, and treated the same way as those things are. Instead, everything that enslaves mankind further to a minority of pretty typically wicked and cruel overlords is promoted and normalized, and the docile population helplessly lets these vampiric predators exploit even their bodies, ultimately seeking their souls. Resist it with fury. They creep in by saying "don't be so emotional, be rational, come on, ne cerebral, what is so bad about this? She wants to be a sex slave, she wants to be treated like that, she isn't traumatized, she isn't mentally ill, she isn't at a disadvantage, there should be a class which has agreed to suffer while another has their way with them, why so serious, just let people do as they please to each other and let be done to themselves, if a person wants to lick poop on the ground, what is wrong with that? That is their choice", I'm telling you these are devils, and they are heartless, and the first who suffer are the mentally ill and disenfranchised, the poor, the uneducated, and the predators are people with no hearts, basically psychopaths, abnormal deviants who can comfortably "use" bodies for things without devotion or real romance, so many are also ruining their families, bringing home diseases and spreading them, cheating, and even cheating is too light and playful a word for the horrific psychological harm they cause when people find out they were sexually betrayed by someone who did things that were supposed to be exclusive with others, the whole thing is hideous, those are some of my views and positions.

All actions should be thoughtful, taking everything one can into consideration, to words what is best, kindest, most just, and overall the most beautiful, for oneself, and society overall, and there should not be any "compromise" unless absolutely necessary, and supporting prostitution does not seem necessary, nor does it seem necessary or good to let something like that be normalized overall or to have this disruption in the open, even if it will go one where it ought to, in the darkness and in secret, because it is ugly and wrong and rightfully should hidd its face from others and society, where all that is beautiful and creates harmony and stability should be emphasized, and it is easier to do that than convincing people that "its just sex" and that men "naturally" need to go with all kinds of extra people often lol, if they do, they are addicts and have some kind of problem and may need harmony therapies themselves to bring them back to sanity and decency and treating people better than that, than they would treat and think of a prostitute, and no one should ever do either, using such "services" or providing them, I really think it is nightmarish and totally dystopian where er it is normalized or people letting people be all over them like that, for money, so freaking gross.

Not much of a difference overall, both pr*stitution and p*rnography deal with exploitation of human bodies and commodifying them for consumption in a way, but prostitution has a direct sexual encounter, the other has the prostitute or prostitutes being filmed and the film or images sold and purchased by people looking for a less direct form of sexual stimulation.

The lesser forms then are animation or drawn images or A.I. generated, from hyper realistic to totally unreal looking, even less than images might be fictional writing and fantasy that is pretty graphically described to the most subtle and vague innuendo and implications or hints left up to the imagination.

You can rank these.

The most extreme is direct sexual intercourse, the next is viewing others having direct sexual intercourse live, and then it goes from there all the way to the heart symbol and the letters p, v, B, and STD.

I think that all exploitation of, objectifying of, commodifying of, sale if, sales value added to, humans and human things is all bad, with direct selling of one's body being more bad than selling the product of one's labor, which can still ne considered the sale of some extension of their bodily labor, but there are forms of self-sale that are normalized, and others that some are trying to normalize, and others which are quite difficult to turn people away from once they have accepted it as normal, like their selling off their one of a kind art or people licensing and controlling their efforts or even their personal images, practically like enslavement, but "what does it matter, we bought the rights to profit from your image exclusively, you sold away the model and plan and design of your image and form, the copyright and plan to you, belongs to our intellectual property holding firm and body bank to be used however we see fit".

Anything even like that, should be reacted to with visceral, "noble savage", animalistic, "true human" rage, not even slow, potentially self-deluding logic, but readiness to violence over any attempt at anything, enslaving and exploiting anyone or anything else, but especially a precious concern for your own body and extensions of such, even if it seems irrational. The enemy of humanity takes advantage of one's patience and reasoning, it can not be reasoned with, it is purely predatory, and people should bully, terrorize, and lash out with extreme reactions to attempts, even hints or suggestions, of trying to take your body and "soul" in exchange for some made up paper with some made up value attributed to it, that changes freely and can change drastically in a moment. Such should not even be an option, and people who try to trick people into bondage are none other than conjurers and witches and should be treated like them too and fought tooth and nail, a better use for your tooth and nail than selling them to a damned ghoul and vampire to feast upon.

So, as much as you can balance survival, exploiters should find only a closed door with anyone with any sense, and don't invite them in, and work all harm towards them, and if you can end them without causing trouble to yourself, end them however you can, since they wanted to enslave you and use every bit of your body, they wanted to chew you up and sh*t you out, so they are the enemy, show no mercy to cancer.

Now, limited and controlled exploitation, like a small gang of wh*res effing amongst themselves in undisclosed locations, broadcast to the public, is also bad in my opinion, and promoting bad, bad for those agreeing to it and participating in it in any way, but isn't in my opinion as bad as becoming any kind of a pr*stitute or actually having direct contact or interactions with pr*stitutes or even pr*miscuous people who may spread more than just STDs, but also a bad philosophy and way of thinking if themselves, others, bodies, interactions, relationships, s*x, s*xuality, and what should instead be beautified and idealized and romanticized, kept ideal, romantic, and possibly high minded, mingled with notions like love, care, honor, nobility, duty, obligation, fairness, mercy, gentleness, considerations, emotion, conscientiousness, consideration, concern.

Why is porn less bad? It is given a layer of distance and separation, especially if it is free, and the people doing wrong and being wronged are doing so in an overall small group separated from the people for the most part, viewed voyeuristically with no way to get in contact with them either. It creates false and unreasonable expectations and fantasies for some, it still teaches all kinds of wrong things, but it is looking at and getting aroused by people doing things, not directly interacting with and doing things with those people, or buying bodies or selling bodies, but watching other bought people selling themselves. It is bad, but not taking up the same exact spaces as directly going with prostitutes or paying for people to perform sex acts on a camera, the latter of which I still rank as less than direct interaction with their bodies, but any interaction is worse in my opinion than no interaction while anonymously viewing them while one remains mostly unknown and unseen and undetectable, and if it was filmed separately that seems less to me than live voyeurism. I can, and it is perhaps futile, rank and reason everything and justify why, even with superstitions at times, I feel some are worse than others, but I, as a proper pride, think it is all bad and leading to bad, despite any slight benefits it may seem to offer.

Even relationships are or can be a little bad, particularly if one is pestering or demanding another human being to do things that they are unlikely to be enthusiastic about doing, like the many things that p*rn suggests to people.

Working these things out as a wh*re with your own person long-term "forever wh*re", and doing so as patiently and respectfully as one can, may be the best compromise short of celibacy, which seems to be a bad option as well, and if universally adopted might make an end of a lot of problems, such as the existence of the human race.

@Whisper, your opening post lays out a painful and often hidden reality: that the line between sex work and exploitation is often not as clear-cut as it's made out to be. The stats, the trauma, the power imbalance — it all points to a system that often gives people no real choice at all.

@kFoyauextlH, I can hear how strongly you feel that commodification of the body erodes something essential — and I think that discomfort is a compass, even when it leads us through hard-to-articulate terrain. I don’t share all your conclusions, but I absolutely respect the urgency behind them.

There’s a danger in collapsing everything into one label — sex work is empowerment or sex work is slavery — because either side can erase the lived complexity. There are people who feel trapped and abused, and there are people who feel autonomous and in control. Sometimes those two experiences exist within the same individual at different points in time.

Maybe the real challenge isn’t to defend or denounce “sex work” as a category, but to ask better questions:

Who has real choice, and who doesn’t?

What material conditions are shaping that choice?

And who profits from which narratives?

In a society that commodifies nearly everything, from art to affection, I don’t think we can isolate sex as the one moral battleground — but neither should we pretend it’s just another job. It is different. Intimate. Loaded. Often sacred. And that difference deserves serious thought — not just slogans.

Appreciate the intensity and depth from everyone in here. This is what real dialogue looks like.
