Raniere attended Suffern High School for ninth grade before transferring to Rockland Country Day School. He graduated in June 1978, two months prior to his eighteenth birthday.[14][22][27] As an adult, Raniere reported that he read Isaac Asimov's mind control-themed work Second Foundation at age 12 and credited the novel with inspiring his work in NXIVM.[28][29] In 1982, Raniere graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a 2.26 GPA, barely passing and failing many classes.[30] He was employed as a computer programmer for the New York State Division of Parole.[31]

Describing a conversation with Raniere's father, his former partner, Barbara Bouchey, recalled, "[James] said ... [they] told Keith about how gifted and how intelligent he was. And he said it was almost like a switch went off. And suddenly, overnight, [Raniere] turned into ... Jesus Christ ... [thinking] he was superior and better than everybody, like he was a deity. [James] said it was that [snaps] dramatic and that profound; he said it went right to [Raniere's] head."[32] According to Bouchey, Raniere's mother also reported hearing "dozens of young girls ... calling the house, and [that Raniere] ... was telling every single girl the same thing: 'I love you. You're the special one. You're important. You are the only one in my life, and I love you.' And Vera says, 'He's saying this to all these girls. He's clearly lying 'cause all of them are not special!'"[32]

Public accusations of sexually predatory behavior and inappropriate relationships with minors began trailing Raniere in the early 2010s.[31] Soon after his arrest in 2018, prosecutors opposed bail, writing that Raniere had "a decades-long history of abusing women and girls."[70] At his trial, prosecutors introduced evidence that Raniere held views approving sexual assault, child sexual abuse, and incest.[71][72][73][74]

Toni Natalie
edit
Raniere's eight-year relationship with Toni Natalie ended in 1999. She later claimed to have been the victim of harassment.[32] In a January 2003 ruling, federal judge Robert Littlefield implied Raniere was using a legal suit to harass his former partner, writing, "This matter smacks of a jilted fellow's attempt at revenge or retaliation against his former girlfriend, with many attempts at tripping her up along the way."[41][75] In 2011, Natalie filed documents in federal court alleging that she had been repeatedly raped by Raniere.[41]

Times Union exposé
edit
In 2012, the Times Union reported that Raniere had three sexual relationships with girls under the age of consent during the 1980s and 1990s; Times Union reporters spoke to the girls and their families.[14] One of the victims, who spoke out on condition of anonymity, said that she met Raniere in 1990, when she was aged 12 and he was aged 30.[31] Raniere offered to tutor the girl, whose mother worked for CBI, and one of his live-in partners, Pamela Cafritz, hired her to walk their dog and encouraged her to visit their townhouse.[31] The woman said that the tutoring sessions were a pretext for sexual encounters and that she and Raniere had over sixty such encounters over a course of months, ending around 1991. In 1993 she received counseling for victims of sex abuse and filed a report with the New York State Police against Raniere.[31] The complaint was not forwarded to prosecutors because she had declined to wear a wire to obtain a confession from Raniere.[31][76][77]

Abuse of sisters from Monterrey
edit
In the 2019 criminal case against Raniere, prosecutors alleged that, starting in 2002, Raniere gained a Svengali-like control over a Mexican family who all moved from Monterrey to the NXIVM community in Albany.[78][79][80] The three sisters in this family eventually became sexual partners of Raniere.[78] The eldest, Marianna, is the mother of Raniere's second biological child.[81] The middle child, Daniela, testified that she was groomed as a minor and began a sexual relationship with Raniere days after her 18th birthday.[82] The youngest, Camila, stated that Raniere began sexually abusing her in 2005, when she was aged 15.[20] The prosecution established that Raniere impregnated each sister at various times and compelled them to obtain abortions. In addition, Daniela testified that Cafritz coached each sister to refuse to answer questions about paternity to prevent his abuse from becoming known to any nurse who might be a mandated reporter.[82][83]

Daniela
edit
According to Daniela, who testified for the prosecution at Raniere's trial, Raniere claimed that he had "mystical" powers and could help people grow spiritually and "fix disintegrations" through sex.[78][84] The sisters were strongly discouraged from discussing their sexual relationships with Raniere, even between each other.[78]

Beginning in 2010, Daniela was confined to a bedroom for two years in her family home on the pretext that she had stolen money.[85] Daniela maintained her captivity began when she told Raniere she had romantic feelings for another man.[82] Raniere accused her of an "ethical breach" and assigned Salzman to help her "learn from her mistakes".[82][86] Daniela described the spartan conditions of the room, consisting of blacked-out windows with only a mattress on the floor, a pen, and paper. Daniela was only allowed to speak to Salzman; other family members were instructed to shun her. This alleged confinement ended in 2012, after she almost attempted suicide, but instead decided to leave her family home.[82] After escaping her captivity, Daniela went to a volleyball game to confront Raniere, who attempted to hide.[87] She was later escorted out of the NXIVM community and was left at the U.S.–Mexico border with less than $80 and no personal documents.[82][88]

Salzman corroborated Daniela's account at the trial, testifying that her efforts to leave the room (including cleaning her room, exercising, and writing daily letters to Raniere) were all rejected, and that Raniere had told Salzman to ignore a letter sent by Daniela pleading to be let out, brushing it off as "a tantrum". Salzman admitted that she and others were "incredibly abusive" to Daniela and that "[n]othing [Daniela] could do was the right thing".[86]

Camila
edit
At Raniere's trial, prosecutors accused Raniere of the sexual exploitation of Daniela's underage sister Camila, narrating it through Daniela's testimony, hospital records, transcripts of Raniere's communication with Camila, and sexually explicit photos of Camila found in his home.[89][90][91] Prosecutors also introduced WhatsApp messages between Raniere and Camila, which showed that Raniere considered her as his "slave" and tasked her with finding more sex slaves, which Raniere calls "successors" and expresses a preference for women shorter than him, younger, and virgins.[92][93]

While Camila did not testify during the trial, she confirmed the sexual abuse at Raniere's sentencing in her victim impact statement.[94][95] Camila said she met Raniere at age 13 and began a sexual relationship with Raniere when she was aged 15, which lasted for twelve years. The abusive relationship with Raniere continued into her adulthood, where his control and demands led to her developing an eating disorder, self-harming, and attempting suicide.[94][96][97]

Suspicious deaths
edit
In 1984, a 24-year-old Raniere seduced and statutorily raped 15-year-old Gina Melita after the two met in a theater group.[31][98] When their relationship ended, Melita introduced him to her friend Gina Hutchinson, only aged 14, whom he also statutorily raped.[99] When her sister, Heidi Hutchinson, found Raniere climbing into Gina's bedroom window and confronted the pair, Raniere told her that Hutchinson was a "Buddhist goddess meant to be with him".[23][31] Heidi recalled that, during the late 1980s, Raniere was fascinated by Amway, Scientology, and neuro-linguistic programming.[23][100] Gina dropped out of school and continued her relationship with Raniere, working for a time at CBI. On October 11, 2002, the 33-year-old Gina was found dead of a gunshot wound to her head on the grounds of the Karma Triyana Dharmachakra Buddhist monastery in Woodstock, New York, an apparent suicide.[23][31] According to former NXIVM publicist Frank Parlato,[101] "one source close to Raniere, who knew Gina, said she observed Raniere discussing with Gina various methods people use to commit suicide. Sometimes, he would send her images of suicide for her to comment on. He took her to movies with scenes or themes of suicide. He would sometimes pose the question—'Is suicide always wrong? When could it be the right thing to do?'" Allegedly, after Raniere learned that Hutchinson had another boyfriend, he "reportedly said she must ascend to the level of the goddess by leaving her body."[99]
Kristin Snyder was a 35-year-old environmental consultant who, in November 2002, paid $7,000 to enroll in a sixteen-day ESP course conducted in Anchorage, Alaska, hosted by Salzman.[102][103] The following January, Snyder traveled to Albany to visit Raniere and other NXIVM leaders. Snyder's mother recalled that her daughter "had come to believe she was responsible for the Columbia shuttle disaster" and "thought Keith was incredible".[102] Snyder signed up for a second ESP course in Anchorage.[104] On February 6, 2003, the tenth day of the second seminar, she reportedly began claiming to be pregnant with Raniere's child, a claim allegedly corroborated by Clare Bronfman.[105] Clifford recalled: "I was told [by a NXIVM instructor] not to bring her to the hospital. That's what makes me feel really bad."[103] Snyder was last seen leaving this session of the course. Her vehicle was discovered two days later in Seward, Alaska, 120 miles from Anchorage. Police recovered a note that read: "I attended a course called Executive Success Programs ... based out of Anchorage, AK, and Albany, NY. I was brainwashed, and my emotional center of the brain was killed/turned off. I still have feeling in my external skin, but my internal organs are rotting ... I am sorry life [sic]; I didn't know I was already dead. May we persist into the future."[103] A separate page added: "No need to search for my body."[103] A witness at Raniere's trial testified that, after Snyder disappeared, Raniere paid $24,000 to obtain the password to her email account.[53]
63-year-old Barbara Jeske died from brain cancer on September 3, 2014. A business graduate of Michigan State University, Jeske was one of the earliest ESP recruiters in 1999 and became Raniere's top lieutenant in NXIVM.[106] In 2014 she was diagnosed with a brain tumor, but was told by Raniere that she instead had carpal tunnel syndrome and was instructed not to seek medical attention.[107][108]
On November 7, 2016, another senior NXIVM member, 57-year-old Pamela Cafritz, died of renal cancer. Both Jeske and Cafritz were diagnosed with cancer while living with Raniere in his Halfmoon, New York, condominium. Two other female NXIVM members were diagnosed with cancer while residing in the same residence, although both survived.[109][110] A sample of hair from one of the women, who survived bladder cancer, showed that she had "significantly higher" levels of carcinogenic "heavy metals" such as bismuth and barium. After Cafritz' death, Raniere and his co-conspirators used her identity and her credit card, charging over $300,000.[111] In 2009, Raniere was filmed claiming: "I've had people killed because of my beliefs—or because of their beliefs."[112]
DOS: secret "slaves" and branding
edit
Creation, membership, and collateral
edit
In 2015, Raniere created a secret subgroup within NXIVM called "DOS", an acronym for "Dominus Obsequious Sororium".[113][114] DOS operated with levels of women "slaves" headed by "masters". Slaves were expected to recruit slaves of their own, becoming masters themselves. Slaves owed service not only to their own masters but also to masters above them in the DOS pyramid.[115] An estimated 150 women joined DOS.[19] Raniere was the only male in DOS and sat at the top of the pyramid as the "grandmaster".[116][117]

Prosecution exhibit depicting Raniere's first-line masters
Raniere initially recruited eight women to join DOS, including Allison Mack, Nicki Clyne and Lauren Salzman, who became his inner-circle members and DOS "first-line masters".[17][118] DOS masters recruited new members by telling them they were joining a women-only organization that would empower them, with Raniere's status as the leader of DOS concealed.[119][120][121]

Raniere maintained command and control over DOS members by collecting "collateral"—which included highly damaging personal information, sexually explicit photos or videos, and rights to personal assets—and relied on his inner-circle members to carry out his orders and build the DOS pyramid group.[1][122][123] Women were required to provide collateral before joining DOS and continue to give new collateral every month after joining it.[124][125] Slaves were told that their collateral could be released for any number of reasons, including if they left DOS, spoke publicly about DOS, or repeatedly failed DOS obligations or assignments.[126]

Mental, physical, and sexual abuse of members
edit
Raniere tasked his inner-circle members with various DOS projects and devised assignments for DOS slaves, including instructions for seduction assignments in which DOS masters implicitly or expressly directed their slaves to engage in sexual activity with Raniere.[127][128][129][130] The assignments later served as the basis for Raniere's indictment and convictions for sex trafficking and attempted sex trafficking.[1][131]

Raniere encouraged DOS masters to use demeaning and derogatory language and racial slurs to humiliate DOS slaves.[130] Slaves were required to provide free labor for their masters[114][125] and were severely sleep-deprived from forced participation in "readiness drills" which required them to respond to their masters at any time of the day or night.[132][133] DOS members were subject to corporal punishment, which included being forced to hold painful poses, stand barefoot in the snow, take cold showers, and whip each other with a strap.[134][135] FBI agent Michael Lever reported that DOS slaves were forced to adhere to extremely restrictive diets to satisfy Raniere's preference for "exceptionally thin" women.[126][136] The extreme diet caused women to stop menstruating and their hair to fall out.[124][137] Slaves were also ordered to remain celibate and stop removing their pubic hair.[138][139]

Branding of members
edit

Prosecution exhibit: a photo of the DOS brand, which consisted of Raniere's initials K.A.R.
DOS members were branded in their pelvic regions with a symbol that, unbeknownst to them, incorporated Raniere's initials.[140][141] Some slaves were told the brand stood for the elements.[128][142] Only Raniere's inner-circle members knew the brand was his initials.[122][143] At Raniere's trial, prosecutors introduced a recording of a private meeting in 2016 with inner-circle members where Raniere stated, "The monogram as it is right now is very directly related to my initials." The group discussed how to obscure that fact.[144][145]

The DOS branding ritual followed a script created by Raniere: slaves were required to be fully naked, with the ceremonies filmed and used as more collateral on the DOS slaves.[142][144] In a recorded conversation between Raniere and Mack discussing the branding, Raniere said, "The person should probably ask to be branded. They should probably say that before they're held down, so it doesn't seem like they're being coerced."[130] NXIVM member Danielle Roberts performed the branding of DOS members using a cauterizing pen. The New York State Department of Health later revoked Roberts' medical license following an investigation into the branding.[146][147]

The purpose and aim of DOS
edit
At Raniere's trial, Salzman stated that the DOS pyramid had four levels of slaves, each reporting to their master on the level above them, and all of them ultimately accountable to Raniere, the grandmaster.[134] Salzman testified that the overriding emphasis of DOS was to venerate Raniere and foster an atmosphere of total obedience and secrecy. DOS members communicated using encrypted phone applications like Telegram and Signal, and members' identities were not always known to one another.[134] DOS members were encouraged to recruit people of power and influence with DOS sororities across the country.[134][148] Salzman also testified that she was helping Raniere edit his DOS manifesto that enforced the master-slave relationships.[134][149] Excerpts from the book included: "The best slave derives the highest pleasure from being her Master's ultimate tool" and, "Your sole highest desire must be to further your Master from whom all good things come and are related."[149]

Exposure
edit
On June 5, 2017, Frank Parlato reported the existence of DOS and the practice of human branding.[150] On October 17, 2017, The New York Times published a story detailing DOS abuses, including the requirement of slaves to provide collateral.[151][152]

Following the NYT piece, Raniere sent a draft position statement to DOS first-line masters, writing that women who had been branded were being shamed by a "misogynistic strike" and that DOS was an "autonomous" organization, "separate and distinct from NXIVM" and that he had "little knowledge or authority in the issue".[144] In a separate letter to NXIVM members he wrote, "I feel it is important to clarify the sorority is not part of NXIVM and that I am not associated with the group."[153]

Over the decades, NXIVM emphasized Raniere's specialness through hagiography. A complaint from a 2020 lawsuit by former members of NXIVM mentioned several fantastical claims made about Raniere in NXIVM marketing materials,[166] including claims that Raniere spoke in complete sentences as a one-year-old, mastered college-level mathematics in grade school, and was an elite athlete who won judo and track tournaments.

Raniere frequently cited having three degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. However, he graduated with a 2.26 GPA, having failed or barely passed many of the upper-level math and science classes he bragged about.[167]

Every August, NXIVM members would gather in Silver Bay, New York, to celebrate Raniere's birthday. Raniere's annual birthday gathering was known as "Vanguard Week", which began as a single day and eventually expanded to 11 days. The event included "tribute ceremonies" to Raniere by NXIVM members.[168]

According to former high-ranking members of NXIVM, Raniere's word was final within NXIVM, and nothing of import happened within NXIVM without Raniere's approval. NXIVM students were taught that Raniere was the smartest and most ethical man in the world.[167]
"

No, that's me!

Haha the evil government claims that about itself too.

"
Well before co-founding NXIVM, Keith Raniere made fantastical claims about his intelligence. In June 1988, the Times Union profiled Raniere, reporting on his membership in the Mega Society after he achieved a high score on founder Ronald K. Hoeflin's MEGA test, an unsupervised, 48-question test published in the April 1985 issue of Omni magazine.[169][170] Although the MEGA test has been widely criticized as not having been properly validated, the 1989 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records (the last to include a category for highest IQ[171]) described the Hoeflin Research Group as "the most exclusive ultrahigh IQ society", and the 1989 Australian edition identified Raniere, Marilyn vos Savant, and Eric Hart as the highest-scoring members of the group.[172][173][174][175]

The 2003 Forbes exposé of NXIVM and Raniere showed that Raniere continued to make the claim of being the world's most intelligent man, with the addition of being "the most ethical."[11] By the time of a 2012 Times Union article, these claims had extended to Raniere convincing some in NXIVM that "his intellectual energy sets off radar detectors."[176]

At Raniere's trial, testimony revealed that Raniere had convinced several girls and women that sex with him could heal their purported "disintegrations," and that his semen had supernatural qualities.[177] Raniere instructed one sexual partner to seek out a virgin because he needed a "pure vessel" for reasons "energy-related and DNA-wise."[178]

How can I not blame the mentally r*tarded "v*ctims" here?

So this is an Idiocracy and the whole sex thing is actually mid stage decline, it it headed to a point where no one is even having any sexual interactions or interested in it because everything is so dumb, and the only people having any sexual interaction are being pulled in by literally the dumbest "cult leaders" on the planet, who are practically counter-manipulative and anti-charming, and they fall for it and also make them rich! The sex traffickers are often part of or collude with criminal syndicates.[1] The traffickers have been creating accounts on pornographic sites and social media platforms in order to sell sex acts from their victims.[1] Pedophiles and sex tourists travel to Indonesia.[1] Australian and other foreigner pedophile rings had infiltrated Indonesia using the pretense of adopting or fostering impoverished children.[1] Some perpetrators are victims of sex trafficking themselves.[1]

In this way, brain rot is what we might call a ‘genre of participation’, to borrow a term from the work of the cultural anthropologist Mimi Ito. On a digital social media application like TikTok, with its endless different types of content, one way of participating is to seek out brain rot and therefore turn off, so to speak, one’s brain. And it’s clear from my research that this type of mindless TikTok video serves an important purpose in the larger ecosystem of the internet.

I gathered my courage and shared about my abuse in a Rajneesh Facebook group. At that time I was too scared to name my perpetrators. I found some support on the group, but many of the responses were the same old things I’d heard before, such as: “The kids seemed so mature”, or, “It’s not like all the kids were abused – it’s just how you choose to see it.” I left that discussion feeling enraged and determined to break my silence outside the insular Rajneesh community. I reached out to several peers I knew had also experienced abuse, hoping they would join me in speaking out.

They all initially declined, but three years later, in 2021, I received an unexpected call from one of them telling me she was finally ready. We began to share our stories, igniting a reckoning in which many other commune youth, and even adults, came forward and shared their own stories of abuse. Each new revelation was heart-wrenching. One of my peers from Rajneeshpuram said she had slept with 70 men, another said 150. This was before either of them had turned 16.

A ‘failure to launch’: Why young people are having less sex

Vivian Rhodes figured she would eventually have sex.

She was raised in a Christian household in Washington state and thought sex before marriage would be the ultimate rebellion. But then college came and went — and no sex. Even flirting “felt unnatural,” she said.

In her early 20s, she watched someone she followed on Tumblr come out as asexual and realized that’s how she felt: She had yet to develop romantic feelings for anyone, and the physical act of sex just didn’t sound appealing.

“Some people assume this is about shaming other people, and it’s not,” said Rhodes, 28, who works as a certified nursing assistant in Los Angeles. “I’m glad people have fun with it and it works for them. But I think sex is kind of gross. It seems very messy, and it’s vulnerable in a way that I think would be very uncomfortable.”

For what researchers say is an array of reasons — including technology, heavy academic schedules and an overall slower-motion process of growing up — millennials and now Gen Zers are having less sex, with fewer partners, than their parents’ and grandparents’ generations did. The social isolation and transmission scares of the COVID-19 pandemic have no doubt played a role in the shift. But researchers say that’s not the whole story: The “no rush for sex” trend predates the pandemic, according to a solid body of research.

UCLA has been tracking behavioral trends for years through its annual California Health Interview Survey, the largest state health survey in the nation. It includes questions about sexual activity. In 2021, the survey found, the number of young Californians ages 18 to 30 who reported having no sexual partners in the prior year reached a decade high of 38%. In 2011, 22% of young people reported having no sexual partners during the prior year, and the percentage climbed fairly steadily as the decade progressed.

California adults ages 35 to 50 who participated in UCLA’s 2021 survey also registered an increase in abstinence from 2011 to 2021. But with the percentage of “no sex” respondents rising from 9% to 14% during that time frame, the increase was not as pronounced.

The broader trend of young adults forgoing sex holds true nationally.

The University of Chicago’s General Social Survey — which has been following shifts in Americans’ behavioral trends for decades — found that 3 in 10 Generation Z males, ages 18 to 25, surveyed in 2021 reported having gone without sex the prior year. One in four Gen Z women also reported having had no sex the prior year, according to Jean Twenge, a San Diego State University psychology professor who reviewed the data for her book “Generations.”

In an age where hook-ups might seem as unlimited as a right swipe on a dating app, it’s easy to assume that Gen Z “should be having the time of their lives sexually,” Twenge said.

But that’s not how it’s playing out. Twenge said the decline has been underway for roughly two decades.

She attributed the slowdown in sexual relations most significantly to what she calls the “slow-life factor.” Young people just aren’t growing up as fast as they once did. They’re delaying big milestones such as getting their driver’s licenses and going to college. And they’re living at home with their parents a lot longer.

“In times and places where people live longer and education takes longer, the whole developmental trajectory slows down,” she said. “And so for teens and young adults, one place that you’re going to notice that is in terms of dating and romantic relationships and sexuality.”

A slight majority of 18- to 30-year-olds — about 52% — reported having one sexual partner in 2021, a decrease from 2020, according to the UCLA survey. The proportion of young adults who reported having two or more sexual partners also declined, from 23% in 2011 to 10% in 2021.
"

"
“A lot of young people when you talk to them will say their best friends are people they’ve never met,” said Jessica Borelli, a professor of psychological science at UC Irvine. “Sometimes they live across the country or in other countries, and yet they have these very intimate relationships with them. … The in-person interface is not nearly as essential for the development of intimacy as it might be for older people.”
"

The sexless phenomenon has made its way into pop culture. Gone are the days when meet-cutes in bars leading to one-night stands and sex at college parties were the cornerstone of coupling in films.

In “No Hard Feelings,” released this year, a 32-year-old woman is hired by “helicopter parents” to deflower their shy 19-year-old son. At a party, the woman frantically searching for her date busts open bedroom doors where she expects to find people feverishly tangled in sheets. Instead, she finds teens sitting side by side on a bed, fully clothed, scrolling their phones or playing virtual reality games. Bemused, she yells, “Doesn’t anyone f— anymore?”

While there are practical benefits to waiting to be in a physical relationship, including less risk of sexually transmitted diseases and unplanned pregnancy, Twenge argued that there are also downsides to young people eschewing sex and, more broadly, intimacy. Unhappiness and depression are at all-time highs among young adults, trend lines Twenge ties to the rise of smartphones and social media. And she noted with concern the steady decline in the birth rate.

“It creates the question of whether Social Security can survive,” Twenge said. “Will there be enough young workers to support older people in the system? Will there be enough young workers to take care of older people in nursing homes and in assisted-care facilities?”

For Rhodes, not having sex has taken a lot of the pressure off social interactions.

“It lets me relax,” she said. “It’s not that I don’t care about how I look or how I come off to other people. But I have a little extra help caring less about it, because I don’t have to worry about attracting specific kinds of people for specific things.”

And she pushes back against the notion that shying away from sex is some sort of societal problem that needs to be “fixed.” It might even be a sign that young people have more control of their bodies and desires, she said.

“Maybe you don’t have to have sex all the time,” Rhodes said. “Maybe if you’re doing other things in your life, and you’ve got other priorities, or you just don’t feel like it, that can be a good enough answer.”

Omg what the f*ck is this:

"prostitute" they say as an insult in this video, which is really unusual, and likely of a "foreign" non-English source, since English language native speakers don't communicate like whatever that was.

Re: Sex Trafficking versus Sex Workers

Post by kFoyauextlH »

This is trending news and so angering to me, as this is just total, blatant harassment of a person and targeting them while they are doing their work as the trainer. No these disgusting freaks are scouring game footage to find pictures of her to sexualize her, it is hideous conduct.

Meanwhile, there were various violent events that occurred and entire swathes of billions of people are being called things like "cockroaches" without any consequences by a protected class.

The stupidity goes even further, as they are being brought up based on nothing in at least one case, and for this woman they are using A.I. and are aldo just probably brain broken in their stupidity levels so that the story is getting mixed up within hours and there are posts and articles about how she was caught faking her injuries because her squat proves she is not an injured athlete, and all that was because someone made a joke about Athletes faking their injuries so that she would squat like that, which they can't even see, and the A.I. or the dumb people took words and re-pieced it together to make it controversial and scandalous, as if she is an Athlete caught in a squatting position that proves she has no injuries, when it was never about that. No one seems to be bringing up that this level of targeting and harassment is insane, and how would they like to be treated like that? I think that the only way these people even might have a chance of learning, though I find it unlikely that they eould ever understand or think it is the same as something they have done, is that thry all get targeted and relentlessly made jokes about which objectifies something about them, stereotypes them, and goes on and on about it, even if it is some kind of supposed superficial praise, most people would be bothered.

Similarly, they do this to all kinds of people, racism, sexism, targeted harassment, even when it is positive, which it rarely really is. So she had to take down all her stuff immediately. Now the losers are going around spreading lies that she purposefully took that position for the image which was just some very brief thing caught on a camera as it panned over while filming a game. I'm not allowed to want these people to have their eyesight blotted out? Like what kind of worthless misogynistic losers go around now trying to spread lies about this person doing their work, that they are saying that she is a this and a that and trying to seduce them and make money from them by bending to help a leg injury. When will these people be gathered up and thrown into a fire, it can't be soon enough. I hated the sight of all this evilness and injustice, and this is the totally indecent culture that is being pushed as the dominant world norm, led by people with no manners hiding behind screens, all of them seemingly misogynistic, often also very blatantly racist, complete loser children, themselves frequently from marginalized weirdo demographics who constantly seek solidarity because they are the worst sort of nerd teenagers from unusual backgrounds that get weird responses in real life. They want to belong, I suspect, and it is usually these borderline people who aren't normally automatically accepted or treated well based on their being brown or darker even and having non-white seeming appearances and hair textures that pushes them towards this. That being said, the comments they posted in the article seemed to all be coming from people with some kind of desire to be part of muscle and fitness groups or to sort of weasle their way into "black" culture, so that they are outsiders in the sense of being originally most likrly scrawney people who are also short, from second class or secondary cultures putside of the North Western European dominant group, and finally that they want to be accepted into the conversations and with the style of comments they might find more typical in heavily African-American inspired sports and particularly basketball culture. Whatever it may be, it is total sh*t to go after some person with a normal body and the typical form that most females have anyway, and go on and on about her from a frame or two of her doing her job. She is not, or shouldn't be considered a public figure either, though foing this to celebrities and for these reasons when they are not specifically trying would be pretty horrible as well.

So the people that were making these jokes looked like they were or would be considered "white" by anyone else, but had names that were sometimes seeming like they were from Latin backgrounds, but I also think that they were prioritized and a lot of the comments were likely not even from these accounts that might get more traction for base reasons like their appearances which have allowed for fan bases to grow under their images and due to their images.

This is some kind of sick hell.

In September 2020 the Law Commission proposed that sex or gender be added to the list of protected characteristics.[110] At the time of the Law Commission's proposals seven police forces in England and Wales classed misogyny as a hate crime, but that definition had not been adopted across the board.[111] A Home Office spokesperson in October 2021 stated that police forces had been requested to record any crime the victim understood was driven by hostility to their sex.[112]
"

"
A 2021 study published at the meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics notes that online misogyny presents differently in different contexts. For example: Spanish online discussions show a stronger presence of dominance; Italian misogyny has a plurality of stereotyping and objectification; English online misogyny most frequently involves discrediting women; and Danish discussions primarily express neo-sexism.[77]
"

"
Andrew Anglin uses the white supremacist website The Daily Stormer as a platform to promote misogynistic conspiracy theories, claiming that politically active "[w]hite women across the Western world" are pushing for liberal immigration policies "to ensure an endless supply of Black and Arab men to satisfy their depraved sexual desires".[88] In July 2018, Anglin summarised his misogynistic views, writing: "Look, I hate women. I think they deserve to be beaten, raped and locked in cages."[89] The term misogynoir describes misogyny directed towards Black women where prejudice based upon race and gender play reinforcing roles.
"

"
Philosopher Kate Manne argues that the word "misogyny" as used by modern feminists denotes not a generalised hatred of women, but instead the system of distinguishing good from bad women. Misogyny is like a police force, Manne writes, that rewards or punishes women based on these judgements.[10]: 79
"

"
In the late 20th century, second-wave feminist theorists argued that misogyny is both a cause and a result of patriarchal social structures.[97]

Economist Deniz Kandiyoti has written that colonisers of the Middle East, Africa, and Asia kept conquered armies of men under control by offering them complete power over women. She calls this the "patriarchal bargain". Men who were interested in accepting the bargain were promoted to leadership by colonial powers, causing the colonised societies to become more misogynistic.[98]
"

The colonized.

These paranoid psychos are no help either, look at the insanity of this re-telling, full of so much that never happened in the story:

"
Culture rewards traits that are considered masculine and devalues traits that seem feminine, according to Tracy M. Hallstead at Quinnipiac University. From childhood, boys and men are told to "man up" to appear tough by distancing themselves from feminine things. Boys learn that it is shameful to be seen as emotional, dependent, or vulnerable. Men raised in this way may disown femininity and may even learn to despise it. In this view, misogyny is directed not only at women, but at any feminine qualities that men see within themselves.[101]

This contempt for the feminine causes men who feel that they must assert their dominance over women by controlling them, Hallstead writes. She illustrates this with the ancient story of Pygmalion, a sculptor who hated "the faults beyond measure which nature has given to women".[102] Pygmalion creates a sculpture of a woman that magically comes alive. Pygmalion is very gratified by the complete control he has over the woman, Galatea, because this control re-enforces his masculinity. He considers Galatea the perfect woman, in spite of his contempt for women, because of his absolute power over her.[101]
"

"

The story of Pygmalion appeared earliest in a Hellenistic work, Philostephanus' history of Cyprus, "De Cypro".[5] It is retold in Ovid's Metamorphoses,[6] where the king Pygmalion is made into a sculptor who fell in love with a marble statue he had crafted with his own hands. In answer to his prayers, the goddess Aphrodite brought it to life and united the couple in marriage. This novella remained the classical telling until the end of the seventeenth century. The trope of the animated statue gained a vogue during the eighteenth century.[7]

The daemon of Pygmalion's goddess, animating her cult image, bore him a son Paphus—the eponym of the city of Paphos—and Metharme. Of "this ecstatic relationship", Meyer Reinhold has remarked, "there may be lurking a survival of the ancient cult of the Great Goddess and her consort".[3]

Cinyras, perhaps the son of Paphus,[8] or perhaps the successful suitor of Metharme, founded the city of Paphos on Cyprus, under the patronage of Aphrodite, and built the great temple to the goddess there.[9]

Bibliotheke, the Hellenistic compendium of myth long attributed to Apollodorus, mentions a daughter of Pygmalion named Metharme.[10] She was the wife of Cinyras, and the mother of Adonis, beloved of Aphrodite, although Myrrha, daughter of Cinyras, is more commonly named as the mother of Adonis.

It was commonly rumored in Roman times that Praxiteles's cult image of Aphrodite of Knidos in Aphrodite's temple was so beautiful that at least one admirer arranged to be shut in with it overnight.[11]

The attraction may include a desire for actual sexual contact with the object, a fantasy of having sexual (or non-sexual) encounters with an animate or inanimate instance of the preferred object, the act of watching encounters between such objects, or sexual pleasure gained from thoughts of being transformed or transforming another into the preferred object.

Depending on the object of their desire, agalmatophiles can exhibit pygmalionism, the love for an object of one's own creation, named after the myth of Pygmalion, where a man falls in love with a statue he made of his ideal woman.[1] English poet Edmund Spenser wrote of sexual pygmalionism in some of his works.[2]

Does he make the same comments about men and their butts/legs? Or other body parts?

If not, then yes he is being sexist. Because he is evaluating women based on their sexual appeal or beauty instead of their skills, opinions, experience, or character. This tendency to evaluate women based on their bodies instead of their minds/behaviors is born out of patriarchy.

Lol, this goes too far too, in every direction, there is no damn balance, like even from the expectations of the responders or those who mind. I've never heard anyone in person make such comments about people, these men are doing it around what I assume are their daughters, it is pretty creepy seeming, they sound like they are intoxicated or something. Their obsession with fashion is funny too, they simply want that females they see provide the most stimulation without causing anxiety as is possible lol.

The relief for me would be hearing about some suicides, accidents, and deaths, and assuming that all the people who died suddenly and horrifically were annoying.

For psychoanalysis, the body is sexed, but aside from that, sex is primarily a concept (which includes categories, classes of things etc.), i.e. what it is to be a woman or a man (aside from biology) in terms of emotional contours, ways of enjoying, power etc. The phrase means that Woman as a universal category doesn't exist. Every individual woman exists as much as every individual man. Historically (i.e. patriarchy), we say "mankind" under which woman is subsumed, if we say "womankind", man is not subsumed within that category. For reasons too long to go into here, language is phallic (you can effectively forget the connection with the penis - though it is actually there), which means it deals in categories that are universals, "All" (all encompassing, total). "Mankind" is all because it includes woman. "Womankind" is non-All because it does not include man. Lacan is actually interested in the two ways we can deal with the Kantian antinomies (contradictions), either through the logic of the All or the non-All (two incompatible logics if you will). It is society that assigns the All to men and non-All to women, they are not inherent to each sex, each sex learns, is taught, to operate under a certain logic of enjoyment. We exist as bodies, but our egos are an illusion (though a necessary one). Which means that neither man nor woman actually exist (conceptually), but language claims man does. This led Zizek to make the rather brilliant claim that "Man is a woman who believes that she exists".
"

"
To add to this, IIRC, Zizek frames it in the following way : women do not exist because the concept of woman is socially constructed by men's desire (because of the patriarchy which lets men decide such things). But there is a twist: why do men need to invent women? To imagine what women want in a man, so that man can align is self to this imago.
"

"

"Does it not occur to you that what is specific to man in 'sexual reality', as I put it just before, is that between male and female there is no instinctual rapport? That nothing makes it the case that all men-to designate man by what suits him reasonably well, given that he imagines the idea of the all naturally--that not all men are suited to satisfy every woman? This does indeed seem to be the rule for how things are with other animals. Obviously, not every male satisfies every female, but it is just a question of whether they are suited to do so or not. Man has to make do with dreaming about it. He has to make do with dreaming about it because it is quite certain that not only does he not satisfy every woman, but that Woman-I ask any members of the Women's Liberation Movement who may be present to excuse me--Woman does not exist. There are women, but Woman is a dream of men.

It is not for nothing that man is happy with one, or even several, only. It is because he doesn't desire the others. Why does he have no desire for the others? Because they are not consonant, if one can put it like this, with his unconscious.

I didn't say that woman is an object for man. On the contrary, I said that here is something he never knows how to cope with. In other words, he never fails to burn his fingers whenever he approaches any whatever - either because he has made a mistake, or because she is precisely the one for him. But he only ever realises this after the event."

(Jacques Lacan, Geneva Lecture On The Symptom)
"

"
I read it more along the lines of Hegel’s Master-Slave dialectic. De Beauvoir and “the second sex” in that women were defined by their relation to men, and therefore do not exist unto themselves — in the same way that Ralph Ellison described the African-American experience in “The Invisible Man” and Fanon’s “Black Skin, White Masks”, or even Spivak’s “Can The Subaltern Speak”. On the surface you’re right to say it sounds very misogynistic (“women do not have penises, so they don’t exist”), but I’d say drawing attention to the subject is a way of undermining/deconstructing the patriarchy by explaining its function; saying women are and have been marginalized is different from saying women should be marginalized. Whether or not Lacan is right is a different discussion.
"

"
This is my understanding too- look at the Adam and Eve story, Eve is created from Adam's rib. Historically, women as a social group are defined by their difference to men. Men are men because they have a phallus, women are women because they lack a phallus. I think society has changed quite dramatically in the way we construct sex and gender since the time of Lacan's writing, though, so it comes off as a reductive instead of a social critique.
"

"

No, Lacan is talking about something beyond biology. A man is a man not because he has a phallus, a man is a man because he is subjected to the phallic function. Contrary to what your saying, it's the female position (the Not-All) that is the more fundamental/truthful one. Hence, the zizek quote, " man is a woman that just thinks she's a man".

Saying that we have veered off too far for Lacan to be relevant now is to elevate the symbolic order above everything else.
"

"
You are mistaken; Eve was not created from Adam's rib, but beside him. Moreover, he was not yet a sexually mature, thinking, and therefore repressing human being until he and Eve were expelled from Paradise. To create Eve, Adam was lulled to sleep by everything that would constitute him as a human being caught in the duality of his representations, which he therefore was not yet. To bring Eve into the world, Adam integrated the mystery of the innate Real, the source of all creation. And he could do this because he was not incarnate. Ultimately, they were both born together from the innate Real, a non-conceptual reality that does not exist in psychoanalysis. The error lies in believing that Adam is a differentiated being, male in this case. It signifies A (alef) Dam (blood), the unified blood that liberates humankind from its dualistic condition; this is what can be said of the innate Real. Psychoanalysts should stop believing they can interpret mysticism with their paradigms; Freud and Lacan were no strangers to ignorance. Like many theologians, they're way off base. Way off base, I tell you, not completely off base. Now, beyond biology, I'll grant that woman doesn't exist as non-phallic; however, she remains inseparable from man. And it is precisely because at that moment, when she was separated from man, that the devil, symbol of duality, was able to corrupt her. Robert Hawawini
"

"

Exactly, but if you want to go really off this critical theory deepend, then there is no transcendental signified (Derrida). Therefore, everything is defined by a lack or absence (into which significance is ascribed.)

In this extended conceit, we can see how the feminine lack thus affords meaning to everything else — this is why I mentioned the Hegelian master-slave; the slave to Hegel is literally nothing and only defined by his subservience to the master, however eventually the master becomes entirely dependent on the slave and thus the roles reverse.

Anyone over 30 feel increasingly alienated by popular culture?

I mean it’s not the younger generation’s fault, but I feel increasingly alienated by seeming nonsensical slang (like “cap” etc.), obsession with anime and cosplay stuff, hip hop artists with face tattoos who valorize unwarranted wealth (when those of yore told hard stories of living in genuinely hard socio-economic circumstances), “thirst traps,” weird dances, using legitimate trans and gender issues as social cred rather than education and building legitimate solidarity (like punk rockers of the past 40 years), and recapitalization of old culture (like pavement or dystopia) claiming they’re edgy for referencing it.

The whole cultural landscape seems so unfamiliar and to be honest utterly vapid. Maybe I’m an old fogey in my thirties. I don’t seek any of those pop culture references. They pop up all over the place including in myriad news articles. Memes have been around since the 90’s, but I don’t get most of those within ladt several years. I’ve always felt like a cultural outsider, but even more so now. Anyone relate? (Once again, I’m not shitting on younger generations. I admit I’m a fogey, but I’ve been able to relate to most things until recently. Has there been some kind of cultural shift that I’m clueless about?)

I blame the steady progression in technology, exposing more of teenage and other cultures to the world than ever before, and producing people who've only ever known culture via the internet.

When I was growing up I didn't care in the slightest what people a few years younger than me were interested in. I hated the pop culture of the time (think N'Sync and Backstreet Boys), but didn't have much access to anything else, except through copied tapes and CDs and later MP3s. Almost no one in my school had cellphones until I was around 16-17 years old, playing snake on a Nokia 3210.

People 10 years younger than me had a completely different childhood, as technology and internet access became available to more demographics, and now those same people are the ones employed to make decisions about plenty of online content. Anyone with a smartphone can go viral and there's millions of people trying to do so, and even more just watching, not caring what age you are.

The BBC had a trending article today about the fly on Mike Pence's head during the debate last night. That wouldn't have even been mentioned ten years ago, but they're writing articles about peoples reactions to it, because that's more interesting to younger people than actual events, and younger people make up most of the audience.

Going the other way, people ten, twenty years older can probably blame the introduction of VHSs and computers and cheap air travel as causing a disconnect between age groups and culture, though it was likely less pronounced than the shifts we're seeing now (except maybe 80s hair metal).

I appreciate your thoughtful message. I agree. Technology totally transformed things. I think youth culture is so far beyond comprehension due to growing up in a different tech-heavy era. We still have to deal with it, because young ones are getting media jobs, but still it’s important to contextualize. (I agree that the focus on the fly thing was bizarre though I’m not a fan of Pence.) Shifts today are more drastic. It’s almost whiplash. (And once again no hate to the younger generations. You’re just living.)

I find it beyond bizarre how indie culture got co-opted by extroverted teen-twenty somethings who otherwise bullied/would have bullied me for being into cratedigging old, lesser known and left fielded bands from independent labels like I was ten years ago.

The whole obsession with contrived 'lo-fi' aesthetics and sounds irks me the most. Also, buying overpriced shit from depop and 'DIY Gucci' (Ughhhh.) Doesn't fit under indie from an idealistic standpoint. It's degrading.
"

"
I feel ya and agree. “Lo fi” aesthetic now is a total contrivance.
"

Congratulations, you're getting older. Youth culture has always sucked, but the good news is there's fewer time-induced barriers to culture now. You're free to explore good music from any place and time, and it's not going to be as expensive and time-consuming as tracking it down on physical media. Abandon the trash of pop culture and find something better.
"

"
Never liked popular culture. (I guess grunge and slacker rock was pretty decent though.) My point was that current pop culture is so odd that I cannot relate in any way. I’m still an active member of society, so my thought was that maybe I’m totally not understanding a leap that happened. I get ya. Your point is valid. But, it’s been an aberration in the past for people 10-15 years older than the previous generation to feel totally out of the loop. There’s usually an imbrication. I get that it’s technology, but technology is only a carrier of culture.only looking for insight. What changed so drastically? That’s my question.
"

"
You know how marketers group 18-35 into the same demographic? It's because after that there's a marked dropoff of engagement with culture. You figure out that a lot of it sucks or you find better things to do with your time, and it stops having any appeal. You're just nearing that dropoff point. There's nothing special about this particular era that's making it accelerate.
"

"
I get that you’re recapitulating “market speak,” but market speak isn’t reality. Maybe you’re not totally understanding that “market speak” isn’t reality. You come across as a tool of the market. But, more importantly, I’m not talking about “market speak,” I’m talking about lived experience that doesn’t always line up with money making. I’m talking about a sense of belonging and meaning. I get it that you’re young. Speak for your generation. I’m asking if if there has been a change so significant that it’s incomprehensible to other generations, and what that is. You’re asking your questions and I’m asking mine. What was the shift? A basic question to be sure. I’m not asking about capitalist “age group groupings.” Just understand the question is all. Don’t recapitulate capitalist rhetoric. Popular culture shifts transcends capitalistic metrics.

People should have personal, private, totally cut off from the internet viewing of others or corporate databases or government databases A.I. that is wholly unregulated and capable of the most advanced things and which can be updated but not throttled by invasive policies. So just whatever people can do painstakingly which the A.I. makes effortless should be handed to all humanity, along with every other amenity without class hierarchies or segregation or certain jobs or income levels having access exclusively.

Thinking, sharing, and making of anything that doesn't involve depriving anyone else of their health or life, within private and closed circles with no intention of mass viewing or defamation in a public way should never be something any government, agency, or corporation should be allowed to police if it is between people in private who are accepting it and not threats or harassment against an unwilling or unknown person or people or a group.

It would be great, like a way to destroy the animal killing industry through better ways of producing meat safely with less or no ongoing deaths eventually, to have an option for sexual gratification for people, probably mostly males, which does not involve any real people being exploited, stigmatized, denigrated, and their lives closing in because of producing or being part of explicit imagery and graphic s*xual acts "for real", so that there just are no more people or far less people doing that, by A.I. making it far less necessary and hopefully dropping the numbers dramatically.

While we are at discusding fantasies, I'll add that diseases should be eradicated and the harmful and debilitating effects to drugs should be eliminated, except it is those effects that people may be going after, so that would render the drugs useless to them if it doesn't cause them to be impaired, but still, making drugs totally benign would put them to an end along with all the problems associated with them and would run another bunch of vice peddlers out of business and out of towns ideally by people having available safe and benign or much more benign and harmless or near harmless options to select if they wish, while the dangerous versions remain banned as a safety and public health and safety issue.

I think that violent s*x tourism is most likely a reality. The film was made by Eli Roth and Iz is one of the biggest exploitative bunches that have run all kinds of operations in s*x trafficking throughout the world, originally focused on Eastern Europe, just like the film Hostel. People connected to the Mafia-like government and politically powerful figures in Iz have s*x tourism operations in Central amd South America and Southeast Asia, considered completely across the world from the perspective of the U.K., even though they aren't all that far apart, and many of these operators are trans-national, living in the U.S. in places like Florida and California as well as South America and Southeast Asia and some Carribean Islands.

Violent s*x tourism has a relatively simple task of taking advantage of disenfranchised people, cutting them off from ties though the people they prey on are most likely not very powerful even if they remain connected to their trafficked family members, friends, and relatives. They use drugs and other methods to "break" people, and charge extremely high prices for non-producers, people who will no longer be able to be exploited due to being horrifically mutilated or dead. Many oeople believe such things most likely do really exist, and many attribute such to the same people that they allow to continue in powerful positions or with great wealth across the world.

In a Sci-Fi story I thought of, one little side element had people abusing certain simulated beings made of nano cells that can basically generate anything, and these were confined to a chamber which contains the nanos. The A.I. generation is similar and the beginning of such things, but I don't think that it will ever become very mainstream to be really violent in what is produced except if there are even more changes to the general culture.

What Eli Roth makes is misogynistic, with the old trope of "don't trust women even if they are being", which even makes early appearances in Ancient Greek literature, like the shade Agamemnon's advice to Odysseus due to his supposed murder at the hands of his adulterous wife. This misogyny is prevalent in the Biblical culture all the way back to the story of the first human woman, Eve, according to their blasphemous tales which have become very mainstream and deeply ingrained in popular culture and thinking. The strictures of society and the culture produced by things like cities and beaureacracy aid in creating situations that exaggerate and funnel people into positions allowing for some of the necessary components of things like s*x tourism and violent s*x tourism, down to posdibly making it more likely that a dangerous psychopath can be genetically profuced and also less likely that they will be eradicated even after they are discovered, proliferating their genes at the very least. The perpetration of misogynistic myths and the inability to stop or withhold groups from spreading things harmful to the population due to the frozen position the majority are deliberately placed in in societies that use beauracracy to keep the wealthy and elite minority in power, protecting their neglected and perverse in-bred serial killer children in their predatory hunts on the helots:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helots

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crypteia

There are a few cultures currently which are more violent and perverse than others, one of them being the culture of Iz currently, over many others, but there are allies to them that are quite apparently sick in Southeast Asia also, but none so normalized among the general populace as in Iz, as the Southeast Asian examples seem to be among a minority of the very rich and the very poor, with a lot more mild mannered people in between who are being harmed by the very rich and the very poor.

America's population is too vast, and even though there is a lot of talk of violence being normalized and an apathetic population, the latter of which is more true most likely due to just too much to care about or feel about because of a constant barrage of information thst has to be sorted and prioritized and there being no logic in hurting about everything without ending up unable to function, but this also encourages the strange hypocrisy and double standards seen among people in their joining and identifying certain groups and their causes but ignoring similar things if a counter group takes that up instead:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guelphs_and_Ghibellines

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Campism

The vast majority of people, even just genetically, has empathy and does not like violence or threats or to see people in pain, so they don't have the prerequisite animosity coupled eith numbness and wealth and power and insanity from all kinds of factors including upbringing, abuses, neglect, and genetic issues sometimes from the predatory types that tend to "do what it takes" to get into their positions of wealth and power and co-sanguinity in an attempt to "keep it (those resources) in the family" or "close" in tighter kin groups, leading to proliferation of genetic issues that might tend towards insanity and aggression among certain tight-knit groups, which aren't always elite or successful, in some cases they are shunned and forced to stick to each other because the general population does not want them.

One such group with an increase in certain issues including mental illnesses are the former slave populations who have not been allowed to mingle outside their groups and areas as much even after the official end of segregation.

When in the Bible, the character presented as a villain and later a demon, Balaam, suggests assimilation and dilution, this is presented as a monstrousity to the ethnocentrist and exclusionary interests of the ancient writers and commentators thereafter, even though that is the gentlest way to reduce the chances of problems becoming dominant and giving more chances for other genes and tendencies to balance out issues.

"
Practices of BDSM survive from some of the oldest textual records in the world, associated with rituals to the goddess Inanna (Ishtar in Akkadian). Cuneiform texts dedicated to Inanna which incorporate domination rituals. In particular, she points to ancient writings such as Inanna and Ebih (in which the goddess dominates Ebih), and Hymn to Inanna describing cross-dressing transformations and rituals "imbued with pain and ecstasy, bringing about initiation and journeys of altered states of consciousness; punishment, moaning, ecstasy, lament and song, participants exhausting themselves in weeping and grief."[158][159]

During the 9th century BC, ritual flagellations were performed in Artemis Orthia, one of the most important religious areas of ancient Sparta, where the Cult of Orthia, a pre-Olympic religion, was practiced. Here, ritual flagellation called diamastigosis took place, in which young adolescent men were whipped in a ceremony overseen by the priestess.[160] These are referred to by a number of ancient authors, including Pausanius (III, 16: 10–11).[161]

One of the oldest graphical proofs of sadomasochistic activities is found in the Etruscan Tomb of the Whipping near Tarquinia, which dates to the 5th century BC. Inside the tomb, there is a fresco which portrays two men who flagellate a woman with a cane and a hand during an erotic situation.[162] Another reference related to flagellation is to be found in the sixth book of the Satires of the ancient Roman Poet Juvenal (1st–2nd century A.D.),[163] further reference can be found in Petronius's Satyricon where a delinquent is whipped for sexual arousal.[164] Anecdotal narratives related to humans who have had themselves voluntary bound, flagellated or whipped as a substitute for sex or as part of foreplay reach back to the 3rd and 4th century BC.[citation needed]

In Pompeii, a whip-mistress figure with wings is depicted on the wall of the Villa of Mysteries, as part of an initiation of a young woman into the Mysteries. The whip-mistress role drove the sacred initiation of ceremonial death and rebirth.[165] The archaic Greek Aphrodite may too once have been armed with an implement, with archaeological evidence of armed Aphrodites known from a number of locations in Cythera, Acrocorinth and Sparta,[166] and which may have been a whip.[165]

The Kama Sutra of India describes four different kinds of hitting during lovemaking, the allowed regions of the human body to target and different kinds of joyful "cries of pain" practiced by bottoms. The collection of historic texts related to sensuous experiences explicitly emphasizes that impact play, biting and pinching during sexual activities should only be performed consensually since only some women consider such behavior to be joyful. From this perspective, the Kama Sutra can be considered one of the first written resources dealing with sadomasochistic activities and safety rules. Further texts with sadomasochistic connotation appear worldwide during the following centuries on a regular basis.[167]

There are anecdotal reports of people willingly being bound or whipped, as a prelude to or substitute for sex, during the 14th century. The medieval phenomenon of courtly love in all of its slavish devotion and ambivalence has been suggested by some writers to be a precursor of BDSM.[168][169] Some sources[who?] claim that BDSM as a distinct form of sexual behavior originated at the beginning of the 18th century when Western civilization began medically and legally categorizing sexual behavior (see Etymology).

Flagellation practiced within an erotic setting has been recorded from at least the 1590s evidenced by a John Davies epigram,[170][171] and references to "flogging schools" in Thomas Shadwell's The Virtuoso (1676) and Tim Tell-Troth's Knavery of Astrology (1680).[172][173] Visual evidence such as mezzotints and print media is also identified revealing scenes of flagellation, such as "The Cully Flaug'd" from the British Museum collection.[174]

John Cleland's novel Fanny Hill, published in 1749, incorporates a flagellation scene between the character's protagonist Fanny Hill and Mr Barville.[175] A large number of flagellation publications followed, including Fashionable Lectures: Composed and Delivered with Birch Discipline (c. 1761), promoting the names of women offering the service in a lecture room with rods and cat o' nine tails.[176]

Other sources give a broader definition, citing BDSM-like behavior in earlier times and other cultures, such as the medieval flagellates and the physical ordeal rituals of some Native American societies.[177]

BDSM ideas and imagery have existed on the fringes of Western culture throughout the 20th century.[178] Robert Bienvenu attributes the origins of modern BDSM to three sources, which he names as "European Fetish" (from 1928), "American Fetish" (from 1934), and "Gay Leather" (from 1950).[179] Another source are the sexual games played in brothels, which go back to the 19th century, if not earlier. Charles Guyette was the first American to produce and distribute fetish related material (costumes, footwear, photography, props and accessories) in the U.S. His successor, Irving Klaw, produced commercial sexploitation film and photography with a BDSM theme (most notably with Bettie Page) and issued fetish comics (known then as "chapter serials") by the now-iconic artists John Willie, Gene Bilbrew, and Eric Stanton.

Stanton's model Bettie Page became at the same time one of the first successful models in the area of fetish photography and one of the most famous pin-up girls of American mainstream culture. Italian author and designer Guido Crepax was deeply influenced by him, coining the style and development of European adult comics in the second half of the 20th century. The artists Helmut Newton and Robert Mapplethorpe are the most prominent examples of the increasing use of BDSM-related motives in modern photography and the public discussions still resulting from this.[180]

Alfred Binet first coined the term erotic fetishism in his 1887 book, Du fétichisme dans l'amour[181] Richard von Krafft-Ebing saw BDSM interests as the end of a continuum.[182]

The flogging might have had a ritualistic nature.[1] Erotic scenes like these had an apotropaic purpose to keep demons away from the tomb.[1][2] They were also life-affirming and need to be interpreted in clear contrast to the symbolism of death.[1] Along with the frescoes of the Tomb of the Bulls these paintings are relatively rare examples of explicit sexual scenes in Etruscan art, which were far more common in Ancient Greek art.[1]

Is whipping like that to someone at that time considered dignified? Absolutely not. The tormented are typically always of a class that has been overcome with violence:

Law enforcement, journalists, and activists in Indigenous communities in both the US and Canada have tried to raise awareness of the connection between sex trafficking, sexual harassment, sexual assault, and the women who go missing and are murdered.[7][8][9] From 2001 to 2015, the homicide rate for Indigenous women in Canada was almost six times higher than that for other women.[10]: 22  In Nunavut, Yukon, the Northwest Territories, and the provinces of Manitoba, Alberta and Saskatchewan, this over-representation of Indigenous women among homicide victims has been even higher, in part due to the larger Indigenous populations in these provinces and territories.[10]: 22  In the US, Native American women are more than twice as likely to experience violence as any other demographic; one in three Indigenous women are sexually assaulted during their life; 55.5% are violently assaulted by an intimate partner; 66.4% have experienced psychological aggression from an intimate partner; and 67% of assaults reported involve non-Indigenous perpetrators, while 70% of assaults go unreported.[11][12][13][14][15]

MMIWG has been described as a Canadian national crisis,[17][18][19] and a Canadian genocide.[20][21] In response to repeated calls from Indigenous groups, activists, and non-governmental organizations, the Government of Canada under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, with the support of all ten provincial governments, established a National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls in September 2016.[22][23] According to the inquiry's backgrounder, "Indigenous women and girls in Canada are disproportionately affected by all forms of violence. Although Indigenous women make up 4 per cent of Canada's female population, 16 per cent of all women murdered in Canada between 1980 and 2012 were Indigenous."[24] The inquiry was completed and presented to the public on June 3, 2019.[22] Notable MMIWG cases in Canada include 19 women killed in the Highway of Tears murders, and some of the 49 women from the Vancouver area murdered by serial killer Robert Pickton.[25]

In the US, the federal Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) was reauthorized in 2013, which for the first time gave tribes jurisdiction to investigate and prosecute felony domestic violence offenses involving both Native American offenders as well as non-Native offenders on reservations.[26][c] In 2019, the House of Representatives, led by the Democratic Party, passed H.R.1585 (Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2019) by a vote of 263–158, which would have further increased tribes' prosecution rights. The bill was not taken up by the Senate, which at the time had a Republican majority.[28] In 2022, reauthorization became law as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2022.

Women are already a class targeted and supressed with violence.

I'll add a unecesarily controversial remark here that it is the duty of the biologically stronger to protect the bioligically weaker, but instead so many either choose to neglect that duty by not focusing on their strength so as to be able to better function in that way when they can, but also outright use their strength in the opposite way to do harm to the weaker specifically, which would be considered pathetic and cowardly.

There is increasing debate as to whether transwoman athletes should be included in the elite female competition. Most elite sports are divided into male and female divisions because of the greater athletic performance displayed by males. Without the sex division, females would have little chance of winning because males are faster, stronger, and have greater endurance capacity. Male physiology underpins their better athletic performance including increased muscle mass and strength, stronger bones, different skeletal structure, better adapted cardiorespiratory systems, and early developmental effects on brain networks that wires males to be inherently more competitive and aggressive. Testosterone secreted before birth, postnatally, and then after puberty is the major factor that drives these physiological sex differences, and as adults, testosterone levels are ten to fifteen times higher in males than females. The non-overlapping ranges of testosterone between the sexes has led sports regulators, such as the International Olympic Committee, to use 10 nmol/L testosterone as a sole physiological parameter to divide the male and female sporting divisions. Using testosterone levels as a basis for separating female and male elite athletes is arguably flawed. Male physiology cannot be reformatted by estrogen therapy in transwoman athletes because testosterone has driven permanent effects through early life exposure. This descriptive critical review discusses the inherent male physiological advantages that lead to superior athletic performance and then addresses how estrogen therapy fails to create a female-like physiology in the male. Ultimately, the former male physiology of transwoman athletes provides them with a physiological advantage over the cis-female athlete.

Ebiḫ (Ebih) was a Mesopotamian god presumed to represent the Hamrin Mountains. It has been suggested that while such an approach was not the norm in Mesopotamian religion, no difference existed between the deity and the associated location in his case. It is possible that he was depicted either in a non-anthropomorphic or only partially anthropomorphic form. He appears in theophoric names from the Diyala area, Nuzi and Mari from between the Early Dynastic and Old Babylonian periods, and in later Middle Assyrian ones from Assyria. He was also actively venerated in Assur in the Neo-Assyrian period, and appears in a number of royal Tākultu rituals both as a mountain and as a personified deity.
"

"
The narrative describes Ebiḫ both as a personified deity and as a topographical feature.[25] Inanna, presented in her warlike aspects, wants to confront him because he failed to show respect to her, but the sky god An tries to dissuade her, arguing that the mountain is both too formidable and too verdant to be opposed.[20] The response angers her, and she leaves to fight before An finishes speaking.[26] While the description of the battle includes phrases used to describe killing a person (Inanna grasps Ebiḫ's neck and stabs his heart with a dagger), it also contains references to natural features covering the mountain, such as forests, and his body is said to consist of rocks functioning as flesh.[27] The text ends with a brief doxology,[26] which praises Inanna for destroying Ebiḫ.[12]

They used this as an example of Ancient BDSM:

Some "acceptable" practices "don't kink shame!" are to call women by derogatory terms as well as to inflict pain on them. The women at times defend these things, "we want to be called such things, we ask to be degraded, we want to be hurt", but just because a person wants something doesn't mean it is right to continue to reinforce that or support them in that.

If these things are real, then it exposed something about the people, and it doesn't seem very good to be doing that, especially towards a loved one.

"Whatever two people agree to between themselves is fine", is it? I don't think so. Two people can be all in about inflicting each other with injuries, and when dealing with dumb people who are violent and insane, their behaviours remain unjustified and unjustifiable, who cares what they want.

Should someone be allowed to get involved to stop them?

I'd say that stigmatizing and promotion of the idea that such things are bad may slow their growth among people, but that no people or agency or group of any kind should be involved or able to interfere with what people think among themselves or do among themselves should be allowed, due to a slippery slope and that it could then just as easy turn to another fashion where pripr perversity is forcibly enforced on people and people are penalized for not participating a la Sodom.

Other extrabiblical crimes committed by Sodom and Gomorrah included extortion on crossing a river, harshly punishing victims for crimes that the perpetrator committed, forcing an assault victim to pay for the perpetrator's "bloodletting"[78] and forcing a woman to marry a man who intentionally caused her miscarriage to compensate for the lost child. Because of this, the judges of the two cities were referred to as Shakrai ("Liar"), Shakurai ("Awful Liar"), Zayyafi ("Forger") and Mazle Dina ("Perverter of Justice"). Eliezer was reported to be a victim of such legally unjust conduct, after Sarah sent him to Sodom to report on Lot's welfare. The citizens also regularly tortured foreigners who sought lodging. They did this by providing the foreigners a standard-sized bed and if they saw that the foreigners were too short for the beds, they would forcibly stretch their limbs but if the foreigners were too tall, they would cut off their legs (the Greek myth of Procrustes tells a similar story).[79][80] As a result, many people refrained from visiting Sodom and Gomorrah. Beggars who settled into the two cities for refuge were similarly mistreated. The citizens would give them marked coins (presumably used to purchase food) but were nonetheless forbidden, by proclamation, to provide these necessary services. Once the beggar died of starvation, citizens who initially gave the beggar the coins were permitted to retrieve them, provided that they could recognize it. The beggar's clothing was also provided as a reward for any citizen who could successfully overcome his opponent in a street fight.[81][78]

The provision of bread and water to the poor was also a capital offense (Yalḳ., Gen. 83). Two girls, one poor and the other rich, went to a well, and the former gave the latter her jug of water, receiving in return a vessel containing bread. When this became known, both were burned alive.[82] According to the Book of Jasher, Paltith, one of Lot's daughters, was burnt alive (in some versions, on a pyre) for giving a poor man bread.[83] Her cries went to the heavens.[78] Another woman was similarly executed in Admah for giving a traveler, who intended to leave the town the next day, water. When the scandal was revealed, the woman was stripped naked and covered with honey. This attracted bees as the woman was slowly stung to death (see Scaphism).

One of the products or services they sell are "D*ck rates (written, audio, or video)", where people purchase something communicated about images or information about their genitals. What the f*ck, and I'm supposed to just be fine with everything and bastard parrots say "don't kink shame", don't question utter madness and depravity or whatever perversity people want to derive pleasure from, what is the harm, in the transmission of such things and getting judged as part of some complex fetish, I'm just too old fashioned to suppress my feeling that everything about people participating and growing this "industry" are wrong and damaging to themselves, others, and the general populace that participates in and is impacted by things like this.
