The weirdest religion!
To me, the weirdest of all religions past and present seems to be the Christian religion and the developmental turns it took.
The next weirdest may be Jain religion.
Christianity can make fine sense but most don't make any fine sense of it in the usual or popular tag lines and associations with it.
When the religion of Amitabha Buddha makes more sense then you know you may have taken a wrong turn at Calvary.
Gnosticism is even more relatable , but the utter weirdness of the following statements:
God is in the image of man and had a son born of an untouched virgin and God was the father of this begotten son but the son was God the Father and not just a man but a Man-God and God entirely. God was then killed and his blood spilled by the unjust forgave the unjust so long as they believe that God was killed and died. God as a dead man then descended into the underworld or realm of the dead and brought them good news and then ascended to the sky to be with himself as the son of the father who is the same God.
No religion on Earth has ever been so twisted and full of absurd ideas and notions, and this is the religion that took over the world and still dominates it.
The most obscure paganism seemed to make more sense than this as well. Even the statements of lunatics or schizophrenics at times but they sometimes can get close with "word salad".
I take Christianity as a miracle. A miracle which proves that nothing even needs to make sense at all and the more insane a thing the more masses of people might be agitated or subtly disturbed to the point of becoming obsessed or addicted.
This oddness was followed up by the worship and veneration of objects and teeth and corpses. The celebration of tools of torture such as the crucifix.
Images of their God suffering and bleeding and in horrible pain being prayed to and his mother who is called the mother of God is worshipped as well.
It really freaks me out and it is just simply accepted and done almost without question and things are stated soberly which make no sense almost like I am awake in a dream.
The Jain religion seems to mainly be missing some parts or rejecting their discussion as the establishing of the system which it appears to rely on is never really clarified. This may be because it comes from a time where the theory of an eternal world was acceptable and needed no further explanation for cycles appeared to be the norm and perpetually repeating. It is odd for its pro life anti living sort of stances, its so-called non-theism, and its methods of deification , but never seems to state anything quite as absurd as the mainstream understanding of Christian theology or "mystery".
The deification of Buddha and some later popular Buddhist superstitions may come in third along with those similar ones followed by Hindus and the Shinto and Chinese.
It appears as though the masses seem to accept the senseless sorts of things and herding towards superstitions. Even in their versions of Atheism they seem to go in the most violent and weird sort of Atheism they can figure to practice rather than anything which can really be reasoned clearly.
I guess these are religions for the people and since I dislike the people, I also dislike their speech and ideas and tolerances.
Christianity is absolutely fascinating though when left in its pristinely mongoloid state. I find it the most exciting at its most absurd.
Islam: There is only God who controls everything and is not a man or a creature but the sole power behind all creation and destruction.
Popular Islam: color your hair red and have a beard without a mustache and follow made up stories about Muhammed while being unecessarily aggressive and having nothing to stand upon.
Buddhism: To escape suffering release attachment and behave in the most noble fashion.
Popular Buddhism: Repeatedly chant and occasionally perform rituals and you will achieve everything.
Judaism: There is only one God, do right and you will be judged.
Popular Judaism: Wear a little box on your head with the name of God in it because God said to always keep God on the top of your head. God said to cover your hair so wear a wig on top of your hair.

Haha, me? I do find it really fascinating and pretty completely weird and that its mainstream understanding or party lines are so strange compared to some other religions which are far less broadly established. The 1234 thing is strange because I sent a testing 1234 message to 4 moderators once to test something.

Wow! Talk about taking a narrow-minded road to blasting Christianity and other recognized world religions.
I suppose we can count you as one of the atheists, then?

Absolutely not Serpius. Its a meditation. I am Christian. The furthest thing from Narrow-minded as well. Maybe there is someone who can attest to that? Probably not. No one tends to understand the points of these things. They tend to only see the surface or face and don't really give it the time of day but thank you for not quoting the whole thing. Hopefully you read more than the portion quoted though you probably wouldn't need to since it would likely not be processed in any worthwhile or beneficial way. I'm willing to discuss though. You will find no one quite as religious as me on this website probably but I tend towards the radical and mystical which is why you might find some of these programs odd or counter-intuitive seeming and difficult to read or process.

If it were my intention to simply communicate that I am a closed minded or narrow minded bigot and "prick" I could likely do so in fewer words. Yet that whole program above has its underlying purpose and each sentence made up of words becoming paragraphs that I painstakingly typed on my phone has a purpose and its purpose is not to make people into atheists or to glorify militant atheism. One can potentially gain quite a bit from being very careful and attentive to my writing but when taken for granted or just on the surface it goes very badly. You can check out any of my interactions on numerous forums to see repeated incidents of knee-jerk reactions to the face of the writing. If it is of no interest of you to think or you assume I am lying or trolling or bluffing, those are some of the many common charges layed against me regularly. Some say I am a woman, some say a man, some say an atheist, some say a theist. My messages remain consistent though and I am always happy to explain how I am and what I am and how I am not and what I am not.

@"kFoyauextlH" what do you mean by weird?
Serpius does cut his quotes down so that the quotes don't completely fill each post.

Yes. I was pleased by that. I didn't like when people used to re-quote huge things, it often seemed like a form of trolling, so this cut down was appreciated though its likely they could have skipped commenting altogether as it is doubtful they read the whole thing before leaving their comment based on guesswork of what the post might have said rather than what it did say. This is a common and irritating trend on forums: responding based on guesses regarding content.
Weird has a few interesting meanings. Originally it referred to something divine, uncanny, like a miraculous instance of fate or hapenstance, and in many ways it is still used that way when people say "well that was weird". In the other more common sense that it is used today, it also seems to refer to something unusual or unexpected happening, something odd or unlike other things which are more common.
So if one takes a survey of ancient myths and cultural religions and writings, there certainly are some difficult seeming stories which otherwise appear to be clear metaphors for natural things, as the things named, and often left untranslated by current people, are clearly words for natural phenomena or concepts.
In the case of Christianity though, as seemingly understood by the populace, the symbolic aspects seemed to be obscured to the point of becoming almost unavailable to the lay public and Jesus was rather quickly or from the get go imagined to be a human being incarnation of God, which is not entirely unusual at this point and would have been rather typical except for all the nuanced theological distinctions made leading to the popular understandings above, being accepted or enforced internationally among a huge population of people made the popular understanding of Christian theology highly atypical and strange, since before then people had rather straightforward, albeit odd, stories and symbolic myths, but now here was a popular and massive religion enforcing novel absurdities which the people could likely comprehend even less, such as a son being a father to himself, the killing of an innocent and the killing of God forgiving all sins but not except based on belief in said killing occurring, and many other really strange and far from straightforward ideas.

Would you mind commenting on this thread https://ontic-philosophy.com/Thread-Zeynep-Direk-Companion-to-Derrida after reading the Caputo essay on religion and Derrida?
Some of the themes you have mentioned here are in that essay and I would be interested to hear your thoughts.
Download the PDF and look for Derrida and the Trace of Religion by John Caputo.

I will get to that as soon as I can. Today I may get a card for my phone to make space for more files.
