New Posting Guidelines

Post by atreestump »

I am provisionally creating some rules for posting. Eventually there will be a FAQ and Rules page that will be accessible through your profile bottom nav bar but for now, I feel that we need to make a few things clearer.

IndieAgora is all about getting away from Big Tech, Advertising and Censorship. Unfortunately it is very hard to escape them even on the fediverse and my recent server diagnostic tools that I created myself indicate.

I am awaiting further evidence but I think that Isreal Palestine Iran conflicts are what attract AI assistant bots in hoards. In the last half hour before writing this post the forum site at forum.indieagora.com was overwhlemend by nearly 2000 bots which come in waves. The forum site will be vanishing on 21st March 2026 because phpBB seems to be a prime target for bots and it will simplify this site.

It is caution that I recommend that users avoid these topics as they are primary bot targets. Please do not discuss topics pertaining to:

Isreal
Palestine
Iran

for the time being. This is not censorship, this is me asking you as a friend to protect the space we are in.

Another reason for my concern was that I ran a post reply by a user that was quite long through a chatbot for a TLDR summary in order to just keep discussions going because I didn't have time in the morning to read the full reply while getting ready and the response was alarming. It said that I should ban the user and report them to the police! How exactly a chatbot thinks it has the authority to tell me how to manage my own site is beyond me, but it highlighted a potential issue that goes beyond centralised social media platforms.

I will be collecting more data later on that i will share here to see exactly what is looking at our content and what content it is looking at but for now, I believe that these topics should be left alone.

The fact of the matter is, this information is EVERYWHERE anyway.

I hope you all understand and don't take offence. This is genuinely freaky.

What you discovered is awesome and even a bit exciting, somehow hearing about all this weirdly raised by rock bottom spirits.

Do just links, specifically video links but also potentially links to articles cause issues too? Is it only direct mentions and discussions that use the words or it can be determined that the conversation is about such by a machine parsing text or even things that would require clicking into them or figuring out what their titles are? Probably, but this one had me laughing a lot because of the silliness, like the pocket section, even though it is about seriously disturbing issues and individuals.

I'll probably remove this along with every link I can to such things, but you might be amused a little while it is here.

So if these trigger anything, it means they are looking at the titles or more from links too, I'll take these down soon also just in case, since even if they aren't bothering now with links, they may start that up at any time also:
